<strong>NGCCI</strong> Coordinated CMTInternati<strong>on</strong>al Fair<strong>NGCCI</strong> coordinated country’sparticipati<strong>on</strong> at the annual Caravan,Motors and Tourism Fair (CMT)<strong>2009</strong> in Stuttgart, Germany incooperati<strong>on</strong> with Nepal TourismBoard (NTB) and Mrs. Ann KatrinBauknecht, H<strong>on</strong>orary NepaleseC<strong>on</strong>sul <str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g> of Stuttgart. CMT isthe Europe’s largest public exhibiti<strong>on</strong>for tourism and leisure besidecaravan and motor which was stagedat the New Stuttgart Trade FairCentre from January 17- January 25,<strong>2009</strong>. <strong>NGCCI</strong> has been coordinatingthe country’s participati<strong>on</strong> in CMTat Stuttgart, Germany since 1994.Six travel tour operators participatedas exhibitors in the Nepal Stallnamely Nature Trail Travel & ToursPrivate Limited, Royal Mt. TrekkingPvt. Ltd., Himalayan Waves TrekkingPvt. Ltd, Om - Mane Trekking P.Ltd., Sherpa Society P. Ltd and TheTrek Nepal Int’l P. LtdExecutive Member Mr. HerbertWesely and CEO Ms SaraswatiMaharjan from <strong>NGCCI</strong> and Mr.Lekhnath Bhusal, Senior Officerfrom NTB officially represented theCMT <strong>2009</strong> Fair.Nepal Stand, the Hall no. 4 B 15 theRow stall of 35 sqm with 2 sidesopen in the fr<strong>on</strong>t and at the right sideat the main entrance of the main HallLord Mayor of Stuttgart Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, H<strong>on</strong>orary C<strong>on</strong>sul <str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g>,Mrs. Ann-Katrin Bauknecht, <strong>NGCCI</strong> CEO Ms. Saraswati Maharjan and theparticipants at Nepal stall .No. 4 was the most prominent hall atprime locati<strong>on</strong> at the entrance next toStall of India and just opposite of thestall of Romania, the partner countryfor CMT <strong>2009</strong>.The big Nepal map with majortourism attracti<strong>on</strong> of different partsof Nepal, Shyambhu Stupa at thetop were able to reflect the glimpseof Nepal which attracted lot morevisitors at the Nepal stall.On the Opening Day <strong>on</strong> Jan 17,Lord Mayor of Stuttgart Dr.Wolfgang Schuster and other VIPguests visited Nepal Stall. He waswarmly welcomed by Mrs. AnnKatrin Bauknecht, H<strong>on</strong>orary C<strong>on</strong>sul<str<strong>on</strong>g>General</str<strong>on</strong>g> of Stuttgart, Ms. SaraswatiMaharjan, CEO of <strong>NGCCI</strong> and Mr.Lekhnath Bhsual Senior Officer,NTB and all the participants at theNepal Stand. CEO Ms. Maharjanpresented token of appreciati<strong>on</strong> toDr. Schuster.Nepal Press C<strong>on</strong>ference wasorganized <strong>on</strong> January 20, <strong>2009</strong> at2.00 p.m. at the ICS- Press Center inGlass Cubus C 4.2 of the new TradeFair Centre, Stuttgart. The PressC<strong>on</strong>ference was attended by Nati<strong>on</strong>aland Internati<strong>on</strong>al Journalists includingrepresentative from CMT Messe.A new and attractive DVD waspresented by Nepal Tourism Boardshowing prominent features andgiving important informati<strong>on</strong> aboutNepal, Nepalese culture, nature andadventure tourism and other majorattracti<strong>on</strong>s of Nepal.Questi<strong>on</strong>s regarding Plant a Tree inNepal Programme, waste situati<strong>on</strong>in Mt. Everest, government acti<strong>on</strong>to reduce influx of inexperiencedmountaineers who want to climbMt. Everest and overland routefor tourists to Nepalwere raised by thejournalists. On behalfof participants Mr.Manfred Hartl, BusinessPartner, Om - ManeTrekking P. Ltd. and Mr.Deepak S.B Bhandaryfrom Himalyan WavesTrekking resp<strong>on</strong>dedto queries. Otherparticipants were alsopresent at the PressC<strong>on</strong>ference. Thejournalists alsovisited NepalStall after thePress C<strong>on</strong>ference.CMT <strong>2009</strong> has beenexcepti<strong>on</strong>al with regard tothe tourism sector and hasc<strong>on</strong>tinued to build <strong>on</strong> itspositi<strong>on</strong> as the innovativeplatform for camping andcaravanning for the entiresouth German regi<strong>on</strong>. Despite theglobal ec<strong>on</strong>omic crisis it has beenable to attract more than 205,000visitors from all over Germany andfrom Austria, France and Switzerlandand 1900 exhibitors from around 100countries.German AmbassadorH<strong>on</strong>ored as H<strong>on</strong>oraryPresident of <strong>NGCCI</strong>Ambassador of the Federal Republicof Germany to Nepal H.E. MsVerena Gräfin v<strong>on</strong> Roedern and Ms.Ulrike Kochalski, Third Secretary,Ec<strong>on</strong>omic, Development andC<strong>on</strong>sular Affairs visited the <strong>NGCCI</strong>Secretariat <strong>on</strong> November 14, 2008.President Mr. Thapaliya and the<strong>NGCCI</strong> Board Members warmlywelcomed H.E. Ms Rodern and Ms.Kolchalski.President Mr. Thapaliya introducedall Executive Board Members andbriefed activities c<strong>on</strong>ducted by<strong>NGCCI</strong> and upcoming activities.He h<strong>on</strong>ored H.E. Ms. Rodern byoffering an H<strong>on</strong>orary PresidentBadge of <strong>NGCCI</strong> and urged H.E Ms.Roedern for her active involvement,advice and suggesti<strong>on</strong>s for Chamberactivities. He remarked that theGerman Embassy has been alwayssupportive for <strong>NGCCI</strong> activities andadded <strong>NGCCI</strong> has been workingclosely with German Embassy fordisseminati<strong>on</strong> of business informati<strong>on</strong>and promoting ec<strong>on</strong>omic activitiesbetween Nepal and Germany.Her Excellency thanked all ExecutiveMembers for the h<strong>on</strong>or and welcome.She pledged full support for thedemocratically elected government.She menti<strong>on</strong>ed, the electi<strong>on</strong> was fairwhich is the starting point for peaceprocess, expectati<strong>on</strong> of people is veryhigh so parties should work togetherto build the nati<strong>on</strong>.
