Certified Internal Auditor ® (CIA ® ) ExamThe CIA exam tests an individual’s knowledge of, and proficiency in, current internal auditing practices andunderstanding of internal audit issues, risks, controls, and governance. Additionally, candidates gain professionalinsights and a working knowledge of The IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of InternalAuditing.The exam is offered in four parts, each part consisting of 125 multiple-choice questions.Part I - The Internal Audit Activity’s Role in Governance, Risk, and ControlPart II - Conducting the Internal Audit EngagementPart III - Business Analysis and Information TechnologyPart IV - Business Management SkillsProfessional Recognition Credit for Part IV of the CIA Exam (PRC-IV)The Board of Regents has designated Part IV of the CIA exam the specialization part. Therefore, candidates withcertain professional certifications may receive credit for Part IV in lieu of sitting for the exam part. The IIA doesnot offer Professional Recognition Credit (PRC-IV) for CIA exam Parts I, II, or III, which are defined as the coreglobal syllabus.The CFSA is one of the approved professional certifications for PRC-IV, along with the two other IIA specialtycertifications (CCSA and CGAP).
