The reader is thenintroduced to the Norwegian enamelindustry, the Norwegian GoldsmithAssociation, the enameling processand types, thimble types and themes/scenes featured on them, waffle andsemiprecious stone tops, and theNorwegian various assay markings."Section Two" deals with thethree main Norwegianthimble makers: MariousHammer, David-Anderson,and Aksel Holmsen, as wellas six other manufacturersand distributors, theirmarks, some distinguishingcharacteristics, dating ofvarious mark usages, firmhistory, and period stylechanges. Examples of the producedthimbles are described and illustrated,along with their style distinctions.In closing, "Section Three" coversthe wholesalers and importers, whowere required to place their mark onimported goods sold in their shops, andillustrates some of the thimbles foundwith markings from these firms.
