Basic Circuits NCATT Training Standard Level (2b)(b) Troubleshooting CircuitsObjective:The student will determine procedures for troubleshooting basic electrical circuits.Content – Troubleshooting Circuits:Explain that troubleshooting is the ability to diagnose and repair a defective circuit. There aredifferent techniques to use while troubleshooting a circuit depending on the type of circuit beingtested. The most common problems encountered while troubleshooting circuits are the following:• Open resistors or contacts.• Shorts between conductors.Demonstrate to the student how to test the following circuits for defects using a multimeter.• Series Circuits• Parallel Circuits• Complex Circuits with a Voltage Drop• Resistors in Series Circuits• Resistors in Parallel Circuits• Bridge Circuits3. Basic Circuit Calculations NCATT Training Standard Level (B)(a) DCObjective:Identify the relationship of basic facts and state general principles for DC circuit calculations.Content – DC Circuit Calculations:Explain how Mathematics is an integral part of electronics by using formulas based on Ohm’sLaws and Kirchhoff’s Laws to show the relationship between the following terms:• Volts (V)• Ampere (A, amps)• Ohm (Ω)• Watts (W)Copyright © 2008 by the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training.
