Could the Cockpit be anything to do with the Farm?Editor - I have referred this suggestion to Keith Gardner and hope to have hisreply in time for the next edition.Family History 3 - Brean / Bream (an amendment )Following on from the query raised in Pennant 20 Millie Knox wrote to MrBrean about the entries in the local records and was able to confirm that theBackwell family was named BREAN and not Bream. She also found anotherBREAN in the local census for 1891. He was living at Cole House FarmClevedon. Charles BREAN, 16, single and farm labourer born at Backwell.Bryan Button writes to say that the discrepancy between BREAM and BREAN inthe 1891 census arose because he misread the handwriting and confirms thatthe name should have been BREAN. For owners of his book "Backwell - The1891 Census - Some Observations" please make a note to this effect. The actualentry for the family is as follows:-George W Brean Head M 41 Haulier Somerset WringtonEliza Brean Wife M 41 Somerset StoweyGeorge W Brean Son S 18 Haulier Somerset Chew MagnaHarry Brean Son 13 Scholar Somerset BackwellRosina Brean Dau 14 Scholar Somerset BackwellOwen Brean Son 10 Scholar Somerset BackwellEdith Brean Dau 8 Scholar Somerset BackwellWalter Brean Son 6 Scholar Somerset BackwellAnnie Brean Dau 4 Scholar Somerset BackwellGilbert Brean Son 2 Somerset BackwellAlbert Batten Lodger 21 Brickmaker Cornwall TruroGeorge Batten Lodger 20 Brickmaker Cornwall Truro
