What to do?NGPC believes the present flows <strong>in</strong> the river aresuitable to protect public trust resources and preservethe ecological values of the system. Fish and wildlife,<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g federally listed least terns, pip<strong>in</strong>g plovers,and whoop<strong>in</strong>g cranes use the river and reduced flowswould result <strong>in</strong> loss of critical habitat and <strong>in</strong>creasepredation risks. Reduced flows would result <strong>in</strong> poorkayak<strong>in</strong>g/tub<strong>in</strong>g conditions and the loss of a uniquerecreational offer<strong>in</strong>g and impact the economy of thecommunity of Valent<strong>in</strong>e, <strong>Nebraska</strong> which relies onsummer tourism.
