Zecca, directorof the Dept. of Solid Waste and Sanitation. “Collecting AGplastic for recycling will help the environment, save spacein our County landfill and also help to solve a longstandingproblem for area farmers. The plan is to turn plastic back intousable diesel fuel.”AG plastic can be dropped off at transfer stations inCazenovia, Sullivan and Hamilton and behind the ARCRecycling Center at the main landfill on Buyea Rd. in the Townof Lincoln during regular operating hours at these facilities. In the past AG plastic was either buried or burned asthere was no company willing to recycle this sometimesvery contaminated material. Farmers had no choice but toburn or burry the AG plastic. However, burning any plasticreleases harmful carcinogens into the air and is now illegal inNYS. As of October 2009, the NYS Dept of EnvironmentalConservation (DEC) regulations prohibit burning of anyplastics (including horticultural mulch film, dairy bunk silocovers, pesticide containers) or any other non-organic trashin burn barrels or open fires.Madison County believes that it has found a solutionto effectively recycle AG and rigid plastic. These effortsOscar Soto, MS PTPhysical Therapist655-5453BACK ON TRACKPHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS CENTERLocated in the Cherry Valley Professional Building2662 Rt. 20, Mosley Road entrance.(across from Cazenovia Equipment)-8- Hi, Neighbor, Cazenovia, NY, December 17, 2012 Contact Us: FAX or Phone 315-655-9431, E-mail: hineighbor@hineighbor.net or Our Website www.hineighbor.net
