SERP believes thatpoor have a strong desire and innate ability to come out of poverty. Further theyhave a strong sense of self help and volunteerism. They are poor on account ofvarious obstacles - social, psychological, political and economic, and it is theseobstacles which are suppressing poor people's innate abilities. SERP believes thatonly by building their own institutions they can unleash their innate energies andcome out of poverty. The process of social mobilization and empowerment doesnot happen on its own and it needs to be induced.SERP is the statewide sensitive support institution which induces socialmobilization. SERP is an independent autonomous Society registered under PublicSocieties Act. The General body consists of 25 members of whom 9 are ex-officiomembers and 16 are non-official members. The Chief Minister of the State is theChairperson and Minister. Rural Development is the Vice Chairperson of theGoverning body. Nonofficial members are from among the participatingcommunities and persons having experience and expertise in poverty reductionand community development sectorAbout the initiative:CMSA is a paradigm shift in moving from input centric model to knowledge and skillbased model. It involves making best use of locally available natural resources and
takes best advantage of the natural processes. The main objective of CMSA is tobring sustainability to agricultural based livelihoods, win special focus on small andmarginal farmers, tenants, agriculture labour and women. Its major objective is tomaking small farming viableCommunity Managed Sustainable Agriculture is the largest ecological agricultureinitiative across the globe. The initiative is scaled up from 400 acres in 10villages to 27 lakh acres in 8033 villages across the state CMSA provides greatestlearning experience in technology and in extension CMSA provides exposure tolatest technologies in ecological agricultureRoles and responsibilities:• Responsible for Scaling up of sustainable agriculture initiatives like NonpesticideManagement, soil fertility management, soil and moistureconservation works, community seed banks etc in allotted mandals• Coordination with Project Director, DPM and field level functionaries foreffective implementation of the program• Strengthening Farmer field schools• Documenting success stories and case studies• Building capacities of field level functionaries• Building capacities of women farmers and their institutions• Establishing village level infrastructure for sustainable agriculture likeNPM shops and custom hiring centers• Strengthening community resource persons• Support to subcommittees in monitoring the program• Building the capacities of women farmers in sustainable agriculture activities• Maintaining the data base at village, cluster and district level• Updating web based reportsDesired Profile of the Candidates for Technical Consultant posts:SERP requires young, dynamic or retired professionals from reputedinstitutes (list given) with the following qualifications.1.
