The LMD-940W can alsoaccept 1080/50P and 1080/60P formats from a 3GSDI input. To provide mobility, the LMD-940W incorporatesvarious video interfaces as standard, including composite, SDI interface* for SD-SDI,HD-SDI, 3G SDI, and HDMI interface.* The SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G SDI inputs sharethe same BNC connector, which offers automaticsignal detection.3G SDI InputThe LMD-940W monitor has a 3G SDI input capabilityas standard. On Sony’s monitors, the 3GSDI interface is compliant with the SMPTE 425standard, transmitting up to 4:2:2/10-bit 1080/60P video data using one SDI cable. This singlelinksystem is known as a SD-SDI or HD-SDI system, but it can also handle both Dual-Link HD-SDIand 3G SDI video data with the use of Sony’s 3GSDI interface. This 3G SDI interface enables theLMD-940W monitor to accept 50P and 60P* videodata. Where an upgrade to a Dual-Link HD-SDIsystem is necessary, this single-link 3G SDI systemis also the ideal alternative.* 50P/60P images are reproduced without thedelay caused by the I/P-conversion process.High Purity Colour FiltersThe LMD-940W monitor uses precisely manufacturedRGB colour filters, allowing the reproductionof colours with stunning depth and saturation tocreate highly natural images.Accurate Gamma and Stable White Balance- ChromaTRU Colour ProcessingFor an extra level of colour-reproduction accuracy, every LCD panel used in the LMD-940W monitor isprecisely colour calibrated at the factory, providingcharacteristics consistent with those of CRTdisplays. The colours of an LCD display, by nature, can exhibit inaccurate R, G, B colour coordinatesand unbalanced R, G, B gamma curves, which canmake precise colour matching between multiplemonitors a challenge. These are also the primaryreasons why LCD colour tone can differ slightlywww.sonybiz.net/monitors 1

LMD-940Wfrom CRT tone. The LMD-940W monitor solves thisproblem by precisely calibrating each LCD panel’slight output so that the R, G, B colour coordinatesare virtually the same as those of a CRT monitor.A second calibration is further applied so thatwhite balance is maintained at a consistent colourtemperature throughout all grey scale levels. Theresult of these precise calibrations is colour reproductionreminiscent of Sony’s CRT displays.Sophisticated I/P ConversionThe LMD-940W monitor uses a motion-adaptiveI/P-conversion process to achieve conversion resultsthat are optimized to the picture content -whether it is static or dynamic. Highly accurate I/Pconversion is provided regardless of signal resolution, for example, whether the input is HD or SD.Excellent Brightness and ContrastThe LMD-940W monitor provides high-brightness,high-contrast images by utilizing super-wide apertureLCD panels.Extremely Wide Viewing AngleThe LMD-940W monitor wide viewing angle bothhorizontally and vertically, with virtually no reductionin picture contrast, colour saturation and hueshift. This allows precise images to be clearlyviewed from various positions and angles - a criticalrequirement in professional video monitoring.AR (anti-reflection) Coated ProtectionPanel*The LMD-940W monitor uses robust AR-coatedprotection layers, which minimize the chance ofthe panel being scratched during transportation -an extremely important criteria for use in the fieldor in any mobile application. The AR coating additionallyhas two unique characteristics: it providesa high transmission rate of the internal lightsource to keep the picture as bright as possible, and it keeps reflection from ambient light to aminimum. As a result, when used in bright lightingconditions, high contrast is still maintained even indark areas of the picture.*This protection panel is detachableAdvanced Marker SettingsThe LMD-940W monitor can display various areamarkers, including a centre marker and aspectmarkers. The brightness of these markers can beselected from three different levels: white, gray, and dark grey. Users can also select either a blackor grey matte to fill the outer area of the aspectmarkers. These flexible marker controls, togetherwith the choice of many different aspect markers, make the LMD-940W monitor extremely convenientdisplay device for a variety of shootingscenarios.Assignable control panelIn addition to the familiar OSD operation, the LMDSeries monitors offer control functions on themonitor bezel.
