ERIC CLAPTON’S guitar tech LEE DICKSON on the G#:“I think that the G# guitar is a lovely little tool! Great sound and great fun. I can’t wait to see the productionmodell with the volume control and adjustable bridge (the lap/slide kit)!!. It also balances well on the strap.Everyone should have one at this price!!“MARK KNOPFLER and GUY FLETCHER after testing the G#:“Just to let you know the guitar is here, and it’s really nice. I’m seeing Mark Knopfler today sowe will have comments for you tomorrow. The sound of the guitar is on first impression verygood.Comments from GUY FLETCHER:(In Guy Fletchers words:) “I’m back at home from an evening with MK. He had a good play with the G# and thought itwas excellent, especially the resonance and overall feel and build quality of the intrument.“design and construction italways sounds good too. Mine is always plugged in for instant ideas etc.KEN HENSLEY has these comments on the G#:After receiving his sunburst G#, Ken sent me this messageHi Oivin...Just to let you know that I have my baby and I love it!!Thanks much..KenAnother comment from Ken:“ THIS IS NOT A TOY AND IT`S NOT AN ATTEMPT TO MINIATURISE A NORMAL INSTRUMENT. IT`S A REAL GUITARTHAT PLAYS REALLY WELL AND AMPLIFIES WELL TOO. FOR ME AT LEAST IT WILL BE A GREAT WRITING TOOL !!”MILES GILDERDALES comments on the G#My initial thoughts are that this is a very surprising instrument . I’ve just been using it in the studio on our latest albumand naturally got a lot of smiles and jokes when I took it out of the case , however , once I tuned it up and startedworking on my parts the guys started nodding to each other and our engineer commented, “ Ah I get it - so it’s a realinstrument then , not a toy” .And actually that pretty well sums it up - while this guitar absolutely won’t get you laid , it really is a valid instrument .It finds it’s own place in an ensemble and adds something quite unique( though I’m not quite sure I understand exactlywhat or why it is yet) to the blend of guitars. It’s not a 12 string thing and it’s not a mandolin thing but it definitelyaffects the spread of sound .The other thing is that it’s all right there , straight out of the box , eminently playable ,sweet sounding and responsive - I find myself grinning to myself a lot when I pick this thing up , it just keepssurprising me that you can get that much music out of this little thing.
