And encircling it ismagnificent natural beauty with woods,lakes, and 20 kilometers of beach.The city is also known for its highconcentration of students. One in seveninhabitants is a student at one of the city's 25educational and research institutions. Intotal, there are more than 45,000 students inAarhus.In the heart of the city centre behind thecathedral lays the 'Latin Quarter', the oldestquarter of Aarhus. The Latin Quarter is theplace where the new and the old meet. Thebeautiful old half-timbered houses andcobblestone streets provide a uniqueatmosphere all of their own, and the LatinQuarter is also one of the most trend-settingplaces in Aarhus, especially when it comes tothe selection of specialty, fashion and designshops.Along the re-opened Aarhus river, the caféslie side by side, and the electrifying buzzwhich is present here represents the very soulof Aarhus’ city centre.
