To go in the Chipping Campden direction,turn left and carry on through the village.Getting BACKThere are no Sunday services from Broadway.To CheltenhamWOOD STANWAYGetting THEREThere are no Sunday services to Wood Stanway.From Cheltenham(Mondays to Saturdays) Catch the 606 bus from Royal Well bus stationat 10:00. Tell the driver when you board that you want to be set downat Didbrook, where you will arrive around 10:35 (request stop only). Youthen need to walk eastwards for about 1km/0.5 mile, past the churchand school. At the road junction, turn right and another 275m/300 yardswill bring you to Wood Stanway and the Cotswold Way.It should be no more than a 15 minutes walk after leaving the bus.If going towards Chipping Campden, turn to the left before the firsthouse. If going towards Bath, continue along the lane through thevillage.Getting BACKThere are no Sunday services from Wood Stanway.On other days, to get a bus from Wood Stanway, you have to walkto Toddington roundabout, the junction of B4632 and B4077. This isabout 2.5km/1.5 miles away along minor roads and across fields (allow45-50 minutes). From Wood Stanway, take the road out to the west ofthe village for 275m/300 yards or so and turn left at the road junction.Continue into Didbrook where you take the right hand fork at thejunction. Just before this, the road turns a corner and goes under therailway. There is a public footpath off to the right. Follow this until itbrings you on to the main road (B4077) where you turn left – bewareof the lack of footpaths. The roundabout is 275m/300 yards on. Hereyou are close to Toddington Station on the GWR Railway. When open,refreshments are available.To Cheltenham1 (Mondays to Saturdays) Hail the 606 bus near the Toddingtonroundabout at the times given below. Where the bus stops dependsupon the route it is taking – see table below. To go towards ChippingCampden, walk forward along High Street and Hailes Street.Getting BACKThere are no Sunday services from Winchcombe.To Cheltenham(Mondays to Saturdays) At the war memorial near the Plaisterer’s Armsp.h., hail the 606 bus at 15:31*, 16:50* or 17:36* direct to the centre ofCheltenham. The journey will take between 20 mins and half an hour.Note:*timing point at Winchcombe, Abbey TerraceCLEEVE HILLGetting THEREFrom Cheltenham(Mondays to Saturdays) From Royal Well bus station, catch the 606bus at 08:15, 09:00 (Mondays to Fridays only) or 10:00 to Cleeve Hill. Askto be set down at Stockwell Lane. The journey takes about 15 minutes.From there, cross the road, go over the stile next to the gate and makeyour way up across the common. The topograph and trig. point at thesummit are up and slightly off to your right as you stand at the gate.(Sundays and public holidays) From Cheltenham Station forecourt at08:47 or from Clarence Street at 08:59, or half-hourly thereafter, catchthe D bus towards Bishop’s Cleeve. Ask to be set down at WoodmancotePost Office, where you will arrive half an hour later. Stay on the sameside of the road and walk forward to the road junction with the triangleof green. Turn left into Stockwell Lane. This is 2km/1.25 miles long andclimbs 130m/427 feet, reaching a gradient of 1 in 4 (25%) at one place.Where the lane divides after about 1.5km/1 mile, take the left fork. Whenyou reach the top of Stockwell Lane there is a viewpoint to your left,if you need to stop and catch your breath. Otherwise, cross the mainroad, go over the stile next to the gate and make your way up acrossthe common. The topograph and trig. point at the summit are up andslightly off to your right as you stand at the gate.Getting BACKThe Cotswold Way takes you to the summit of Cleeve Hill where there isa trig. point and a topograph. A guide for getting back to the bus startsfrom here. Set off in the Chipping Campden direction, following thewaymarkers down the hill and turning right along the line of slope. Inabout 275m/300 yards, you will be able to see (and probably hear) theroad below to your left. You should also be able to see a red telephonekiosk on the road and, to the right of it, a gate off the common. Makeyour way down across the old quarried area to the gate and overthe stile. From the summit to the stile will probably take you 10 to 15minutes. A diversion to this route is possible.
