This resulted inoverstatement of sales by?246.52 crore and profit by!25.31 crore" the CAG said inits report tabled on Thursday.The Government Auditorstated that the amount wasshown as 244.89 crore in theNotes of the Accounts instead0f!246.52 crore.It said the "non-compliance"was not reported in theAuditor's report though theattention wasdrawn to thesame. Indian Armed Forceshave been procuring the Tatratrucks through BEML,which assembles them in itsfacilities here.The Tatratrucks deallandedin controversy after theArmy Chief's allegationsprompting the DefenceMinistry to recommend aCRI inquiry into theiracquisition.Between 1986 and 2012,India has procured nearly 6,500vehicles from Tatra of which2,950 were procured between1999 to 2002 by the Armyunder special circumstancesafter the Kargil war andOperation Parakram.
