Marie-Chanel has aPostgradua<strong>te</strong> Diploma in Business Administration andin Business, Māori Development. Before joining the centre, she was theWhakapiki Ake Proj<strong>ec</strong>t Manager at The University of Auckland’s Facultyof Medical and Health Sciences for five years and prior to that, a Proj<strong>ec</strong>tAdministration Manager at Hewlett Packard.Premika Sirisena | Centre CoordinatorPremika Sirisena has been with NPM since its inceptionin 2002. She facilita<strong>te</strong>s and coordina<strong>te</strong>s the Centre’swork by providing administrative and operationalsupport. Premika has legal qualifications from SriLanka and the Uni<strong>te</strong>d Kingdom, and gained ex<strong>te</strong>nsiveexperience working in management and marketing in Sri Lanka and theUni<strong>te</strong>d Kingdom before moving to New Zealand.Honorine Franswah | Centre AdministratorHonorine Franswah assists with all the administrativefunctions of NPM, including r<strong>ec</strong>eption and s<strong>ec</strong>retarialduties. Honorine holds a Bachelor of Arts and bringssubstantial administrative experience from nearly 20years involvement in the manufacturing s<strong>ec</strong>tor in India.More r<strong>ec</strong>ently she provided administrative support at The University ofAuckland prior to joining the Centre.Sys<strong>te</strong>ms DevelopmentDr Tim West-Newman | Sys<strong>te</strong>ms DevelopmentManagerTim West-Newman develops and implementsadvanced t<strong>ec</strong>hnical business solutions includingwebsi<strong>te</strong>s for NPM. Tim has a PhD in Human Compu<strong>te</strong>rIn<strong>te</strong>raction and has considerable experience in weband information t<strong>ec</strong>hnology sys<strong>te</strong>ms development, having worked at TheUniversity of Auckland and AUT University, as well as an independentcontractor for various organisations.Jane Rangiwahia | Programme Coordinator–Dir<strong>ec</strong>tors and Grants and AwardsNgāti Ruanui, TaranakiJane Rangiwahia coordina<strong>te</strong>s the Grants andAwards Programme and provides ex<strong>ec</strong>utiveassistance to the Dir<strong>ec</strong>tor. Prior to joining NPM,Jane owned and managed a number of small businesses in thehospitality industry and property s<strong>ec</strong>tor.Josie McClutchie | Production Coordinator – AVRongomaiwahine, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti PorouIn her role as Production Coordinator – AV, JosieMcClutchie opera<strong>te</strong>s a digital-video production unit forNPM, producing high-quality audio visual ma<strong>te</strong>rial forsharing with our communities through multiple mediums.Josie has a background in the independent <strong>te</strong>levision and film industrywhich she brings to the indigenous academic research s<strong>ec</strong>tor.Publications and CommunicationsDr Helen Ross | Publications and CommunicationsManagerDr Helen Ross manages the Centre’s journalsand publications, and other online and writ<strong>te</strong>ncommunications. <strong>Or</strong>iginally from Scotland, Helenholds a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and a PhD inMol<strong>ec</strong>ular Biology. Af<strong>te</strong>r time as a post-doctoral research fellow infunctional genomics, Helen moved into publishing, holding editorialpositions at several academic journals. Moving to New Zealand in 2007,Helen previously worked in the Research and En<strong>te</strong>rprise Office at theUniversity of Otago, advising on research funding.Gretchen Carroll | Communications CoordinatorGretchen Carroll organises and prepares variousNPM communications, including the annual report, theCentre’s websi<strong>te</strong>s, research summaries and marketingma<strong>te</strong>rial. She is also the editor of Te Pūwānanga andwelcomes readers to get in touch and send in storiesand photo submissions (email comms@maramatanga.ac.nz). Gretchenhas worked in journalism, communications and PR for more than 10 years– most r<strong>ec</strong>ently at Cambridge University Press and prior to that, she wasa Communications Manager at AUT University. She holds a Bachelor ofCommunication Studies.Dr Katharina Bauer | Journal and PublicationsCoordinator – Al<strong>te</strong>rNativeDr Katharina Bauer coordina<strong>te</strong>s the publicationprocesses of Al<strong>te</strong>rNative: An In<strong>te</strong>rnational Journal ofIndigenous Peoples and other scholarly publishingproj<strong>ec</strong>ts of NPM. Previously, she was the EditorialAssistant for the Health Policy office of Elsevier'sSocial Science and Medicine journal and the Administrator forCOMPASS. She holds a PhD in English Li<strong>te</strong>rature.Kimiora Brown | Journal and PublicationsCoordinator – MAI ReviewNgāti Kuri, Te Aupōuri, Te Arawa whānui,Kimiora Brown coordina<strong>te</strong>s the publication processesof MAI Review, the New Zealand focussed academicjournal of NPM, and other scholarly publishingproj<strong>ec</strong>ts. Prior to joining the Centre, Kimiora was the MANAfika/TuākanaCoordinator at The University of Auckland Business School.Donna Gardiner | Research and CommunityCoordinatorNgai<strong>te</strong>rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti PukengaDonna Gardiner is a PhD scholar of NPM and parttimeResearch and Community Coordinator. This rol<strong>ec</strong>oordina<strong>te</strong>s the translation of the Centre's research andactivities to our communities, sp<strong>ec</strong>ifically Māori and indigenous, to makepositive change. She also coordina<strong>te</strong>s opportunities for these communitiesto discuss their research ideas and issues.
