New Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association2012 Drinking Water Week “Poster Competition”To:From:Re:AWWA NJ Section Members and Friends of AWWA NJ SectionAlexandra Wells, AWWA NJ Section, Student Affairs CommitteeAWWA NJ sponsors the seventh annual “National Drinking Water Week” Poster CompetitionThe New Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA NJ) is sponsoring the seventhannual “National Drinking Water Week” <strong>poster</strong> <strong>contest</strong> as part of our weeklong celebration of drinking water.Poster Contest Rules:1. Entry is open to children in grades K05. Children are encouraged to invite their grade school teachersand classes to participate in the <strong>poster</strong> competition. Prizes will be awarded to individuals as well asparticipating classrooms.2. The <strong>poster</strong> must relate to the theme of “CELEBRATE TAP WATER” and should illustrate theimportance of water in our society. Encourage the children to be creative.3. The finished <strong>poster</strong>s should be on 11” x 17” sized paper. Children are allowed to use only coloredpencils, crayons or markers in the making of their <strong>poster</strong>s. Collages will be disqualified.4. Criteria for judging: creativity, use of color, and how well the <strong>poster</strong> expresses the <strong>contest</strong> theme“CELEBRATE TAP WATER”. Spelling counts.5. Only one entry per child will be allowed. Parents/sponsors are limited to verbal assistance only. Alldrawings must be an individual effort and be free8hand originals. No traced pictures please.6. Each <strong>poster</strong> must have <strong>contest</strong>ant’s name, age, school, and telephone number. If applicable, pleasesubmit the sponsoring AWWA NJ member name and membership number (if known). The in<strong>form</strong>ationshould be clearly printed on the entry <strong>form</strong> and attached to the back of the <strong>poster</strong> to be eligible.7. All entries must be received by Friday, April 6, 2012 and should be sent to:Alexandra Wells, Student Affairs Committee AWWA NJC/O Hatch Mott MacDonald27 Bleeker StreetMillburn, New Jersey 070418. All entries become the property of AWWA NJ once submitted. Entry constitutes permission forNJAWWA to use participants' and winners' names, photographs/likenesses of the <strong>poster</strong> design, orphotographs of prize presentation(s) for public relations purposes, for appearance in any exhibition onbehalf of AWWA NJ, or for any other purposes consistent with the aims of the Association.9. Prizes will be awarded in the following two categories for three different age groups; Grades K81;Grades 283 and Grades 485• Overall Poster Winners: One individual per age group. The <strong>student</strong>s who design the overallwinning <strong>poster</strong>s will each receive a $100 Visa Check Card and a framed copy of their <strong>poster</strong>.• Classroom/Participation Prizes: One class per age group.
