Hitherto,the hospital was using a less powerfulsmall-sized generator to supply electricityto the Operating Theatre and the IntensiveCare Unit, the British generator it Isunderstood could provide electricity tothe entire hospital and ensure an uninterruptedwater supply even in the eventof a power-cut.KANDY: A large number of forgedcurrency notes of the 500-rupee deno*mination has been detected by the Kandypolice, in addition to the detection madeof 1000-rupee forged notes recently inthe Kandy area, according to CID sources.Three persons have been taken intocustody by the CID following the detectionof the 500-rupee notes. The CID believethat the forged notes have been printedabroad as these notes even bear thewatermarks and the security thread whichcould not have been printed locally. CIDsources said that millions of rupees inforged currency were circulating invarious parts of the country. Police havealso cautioned all banks and businessinstitutions to be on the alert.COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Governmentnas claimed to have arrested six suspectswho were allegedly transporting a consignmentof explosives in a boat in theNorthern Security Zone. Vishvaratnam from KKS, Chunnakam,and Kopay, The sixth suspects theyclaimed, isaii Indian national named VaithiyalingamRamamoorthi. The ColomboMagistrate Mr. S.I.
