• Wheelchair Lift FailureCristy Raposo reported 2 wheelchair lift failures for August 20<strong>12</strong> compared to 1in July 20<strong>12</strong>. The average wait time was 26.5 minutes in August 20<strong>12</strong> comparedto 15 minutes in July 20<strong>12</strong>.IV. <strong>ATAC</strong> BYLAWSAt the August meeting, the <strong>ATAC</strong> reviewed and voted on proposed changes tothe committee’s bylaws except for Article IV: Membership which was to bediscussed at the September meeting. Accepted changes are underlined.•Article IV: MembershipAny person who has a disability or who represents an organization concerned withdisability issues can be an <strong>ATAC</strong> member. Membership is established at the first <strong>ATAC</strong>meeting of the year; new members are voted in by the <strong>ATAC</strong>.To be eligible to vote in an <strong>ATAC</strong> meeting, a person must have attended must be avoting member. Ex officio members are considered non-voting members.Angie Stabile made a motion to approve proposed changes to Article IV.Barry Humphries seconded the motion. All were in favor.Mark Therrien stated that Anne LeClerc was concerned about the language added toArticle II: Purpose/Mission of the bylaws. Stating that the <strong>ATAC</strong> is “an independentbody not affiliated with RIPTA” indicates that the <strong>ATAC</strong> is completely separate fromRIPTA. Angie Stabile stated that the language is perfect.Angie Stabile made a motion to approve all proposed changes to the <strong>ATAC</strong>bylaws. Barry Humphries seconded the motion. All were in favor.V. OTHER BUSINESS AND MEMBER REPORTSInterim RIPTA CEO Colonel Raymond Studley attended the meeting. The <strong>ATAC</strong>gave him a brief overview of their organization and purpose. Colonel Studleystated that accessibility is an issue very important to him. His mother lost hereyesight and was in assisted living; she used the RIde Program daily andexperienced her own issues with the service. He is very concerned with drivertraining and retraining if necessary so that drivers are in compliance andunderstand the reasoning behind why ADA stop announcements are important.• Automated Transit Management System (ATMS)Colonel Studley explained that with the new Automated Transit ManagementSystem (ATMS) project, stop announcements will be automated. The <strong>ATAC</strong>would like to make sure that the operators know to make announcements in theevent the automated announcement system is malfunctioning.2
