2012page 10Improving peoples livesin their homes and at their jobs.Employee Assistance Program“With employers trending to meet moredemands with less staff and resourcesand the challenges of constant change inthe workplace, we saw a greater need forsupport reflected in the high volume oftraining requests we saw in 2012. Ourmost popular trainings were Supervising,Managing Stress and Change, andBuilding Resiliency.”–Karen Fritz, EAP Contract ManagerThe Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a cost effective, confidential, early interventionsystem for employees and eligible family members contracted by participating areaemployers. EAP provides a variety of services designed to strengthen and preserve workplacequality and productivity. The program assists employees by addressing issues and challengesthat affect their ability to function, either at the workplace or at home.EAP is also committed to fostering a healthy workplace by providing consultationsto managers regarding employee performance and behavior concerns at the workplaceincluding critical incident stress management to address workplace traumas. Our EAPalso provides services through workshops offered to our contracted employers and to thecommunity at large.2012 EAP Highlights• Contracts with 58 local employers that provided supportive services coveringmore than 7,600 employees locally.• Provided 36 total workshops and training events that supported more than450 local employees and their professional development.Current ContractsAdvion BiosciencesAlcohol & Drug Council of Tompkins CountyAlternatives Federal Credit UnionBetter Housing for Tompkins CountyTST BOCESBoyce Thompson InstituteCancer Resource Center of the Finger LakesCatholic Charities of Tompkins/TiogaCayuga Medical CenterCBORD Group, Inc.CFCU Community Credit UnionCity Of IthacaCornell Cooperative ExtensionCortland Regional Medical CenterDryden Mutual Insurance CompanyEvaporated Metal FilmsFinger Lakes Fire & Casualty CompanyFinger Lakes Library SystemFirst National Bank of GrotonFirst Unitarian ChurchFranziska Racker CentersGadabout TransportationHi-Speed CheckweigherHolt ArchitectsHuman Services CoalitionIthaca Community ChildcareIthaca Waldorf SchoolJM Murray CenterKendal at IthacaLansing Central School DistrictLansing Instrument Corp.LifelongMadison Cortland ARCMcGraw HouseMental Health Association of Tompkins CountyNamaste MontessoriNewfield Central School DistrictOngweoweh Corp.Pall Trinty Micro Corp.Planned Parenthood of the Southern FingerLakesRedmoon CaregiversSouthern Tier AIDS ProgramStewart Howe Alumni ServiceTaitem EngineeringTC3TC3 Faculty/Student AssociationTherm, Inc.Tompkins Community ActionTompkins CountyTompkins County Chamber of CommerceTompkins County Public LibraryTown of IthacaTransonic Systems, Inc.United Way of Tompkins CountyUS Dept of AgricultureVillage of Dryden

2012page 11Thanking Those Whose Generosity Changes Lives...Family & Children’s Service extends our heartfeltthanks to each and every one of the over 700 individuals, businesses & foundations who contributed in 2012!DevelopmentThroughout our more than 125 year history of dedicated service to individualsand families in our community, we have repeatedly asked ourselves, “What canwe do to help?” And throughout our years of service, we have continued toanswer that question by responding to the needs of those we serve. To remain responsible to our legacy, our mission, and most importantly, our clients and community, we have also had to ask the question, “Who willpay for these needed services?” Although service contracts as well as privateinsurance and Medicaid provide us with a critical portion of our funding, itfalls short of adequately reimbursing our full programmatic costs. Additionally, these fees for service will never be enough to sustain innovation and excellencein care, the hallmarks of Family & Children’s Service. These require additionalresources to address emerging community needs, to hire, train and retain aprofessional staff, and to develop new programs based on best practices.Throughout our agency’s history, our friends have continuously respondedby generously contributing in support of our mission to provide highquality, affordable, professional services that support children, families, andorganizations in finding challenges of life today. As we look ahead to the future,we thank you, our current friends and supporters, for making a difference inthe lives of those who turn to us.DevelopmentAnne DiGiacomo, ChairJennifer BiloskiLisken CordesMadeline EstillBrad GraingerCarolyn NeumanBeth PutnamMo ReycroftPam SwieringaSandy TrueJennifer WhittakerCayuga at TwilightSandy True, ChairLaura AndolinaConnie ColbertMadeline EstillElsa HydeJill JohnsonLisa McCutcheonVera MclaffertyCarolyn NeumanDonna PrybylMo ReycroftJulie UhligBryan WarrenCynthia WildFesTOYvalJennifer BiloskiLaurie ChadwickWhitney DennisMadeline EstillBeth PutnamMo ReycroftJessica RyanSandy TrueRachel VervalinC o m m i t t e e s
