Page 4 MAMBALAM TIMES: Ashok Nagar - K.K.Nagar EditionJune 23 - 29, 2013NO HOLDS BARREDBy M.A. SADANANDIf the half-wit charioteer Krishna had any tip off that hewould be the commander-in-chief of the Pandava gang atthe battlefield to thrash the Kaurava gang and that themighty Karnan, inscrutable and indestructible, could notbe bribed, the history of India would have been on the linesof the one in heaven.Good old Karnan outshone mere mortals and, robbed ofhis defensive armour through trickery, gave up his life likea true warrior and the Pandava gang won the Champion”sTrophy .Justice Karnan of the Madras High Court, though nota valiant like the cheated Karnan of Mahabharat, hasrubbished all the ostentation and registration rigmaroleindulged in by the parties to a wedlock by cutting all thecrap to make the pair man and wife as heavenly lawintended them to be if they have already consummatedtheir relationship. This piece of practical wisdom is shining like a cut-andpolisheddiamond that the jewel maker Justice Karnan hasrelegated the matrimonial court practitioners and thejudges attached to such courts to the medieval ages. Hedoes not care for the marriage certificate or the weddinghall bill or the jewellery store bill if the fighters before himhad, in Biblial language, already ‘known’ the body of eachother. Well, if they did, that is fine and law will takes itscourse. This prodigious judgment should boost his claim tothe Chief Justiceship of the Supreme Court of India aftermy friend Sathasivam demits office.
