Byvideo conferencing, ScottHudgins collaborated in acourse entitled “Introductionto Islam.”Scott has his MastersDegree in Islamic Studies,having spent several yearsin the Middle East, and hehas a strong backgroundin Arabic. “It was a greatopportunity for our studentsto learn from Scott’sexperience and knowledge. Who betterto learn from than those who havebeen there,” said Lingo.Hudgins taught a number of classsessions from his home in South America,but with the assistance of the newtechnology, the students were alsoable to ask questions and interact peredgeof Muslims and how they thinkcompared to a Christian…will be verybeneficial for our future ministries.There is no doubt in my mind that wewill encounter Muslims inour ministries either herein the United States oroverseas. We nowhave students studying in 40 countriesthrough distance education, and theuniversity has also experienced growthin its on-campus program.Last year, the university’s INSTEPProgram was able to expand to 22 BibleInstitutes located in 20 third-worldcountries. All INSTEP Institutes are administratedby BBFI missionaries usingLBU courses.This month, the university addedBrent Shoalmire to its faculty. Brent isa graduate of Louisiana Tech Universityand in May will complete a Master ofArts in Bible from LBU. The universitywill also launch its new Moodle Programthat allows our teachers and studentsto communicate through interactivewebsites in educational ways. It isa state of the art program used by manycolleges and universities including BaptistBible College.
