I heard several peopleremark it was the best Christmas musicalthey had seen in a church.Big offering and outreach to homelessMidway Baptist ChurchSan Diego, CAPastor Jim BaizeIt all started last Sunday with a largeoffering to get us into the black financially.It continued with our folks servingbetween 75-100 homeless people asit-down dinner and then putting on aBroadway musical for them. Last, wesent them home with a bag with socks, ahat, a blanket, and non-perishable food.Then we had our musical for ourpeople and had great crowds Saturdayand Sunday night. We had a babydedication this a.m. and handed outnew member certificates. I think we hadaround 30-35 saved this weekend. Godis always good.Showing love to neighborsSmith River Baptist ChurchSmith River, CAPastor Steve AlexanderWe have a large Hispanic population inour area made up of farm workers andlily growers. We wanted to do somethingdifferent this year to show the loveof Christ at Christmas to our Hispanicneighbors. So, instead of an adultChristmas party, we held and sponsoreda Hispanic Christmas dinner. Wedecorated half our gym and made it lookreally nice. We put up our round tablesand had them decorated, served a turkeyand ham dinner with all the fixings,desserts, etc. Then we played MexicanChristmas music while they ate.Our Awana children sang twosongs. Then we gave away stocking giftsfor ages one to Jr. High. Hanging on adecorated wall divider (in the center ofthe gym) were stocking hats. Then inbaskets on the floor were winter gloves,scarves, and more hats. We told thefolks who came if they could use themthey were welcome to them. Everythingwas taken. We had 100 people show up.So many left saying, “Thank you,” andthey so appreciated it. It was a greatway for us to minister and get our footin the door of their livesWe are in 40 Days ExperiencingJesus through the Holidays. Had a bulletininsert with a theme each week, andverses to read each day and thoughts towrite down.
