MASTERS CORNER...
April 2011 Newsletter
Wow what an Australian Masters Championship. All day
Saturday we were running second to Noosa Heads and no
matter what results we got we could not overtake them.
However Sunday was a different proposition as in the Team
events, both male and female, we came to the fore and
initially finished the Carnival on 328 points and Noosa Heads
314.5. At our after Carnival function news came through
that Trent Rowe won 30-39 Champion Lifesaver and Scott
Unicomb won 40-49 event (12 points – up to 340) Then in
the Board Riding, Tiarne won the Long and Short Board
Riding and Nigel won the Long Board and was third in the
Short Board (another 22 points)
FINAL POINTSCORE
BMD Northcliffe 362
Noosa Heads 314.5
Queenscliff 141.5
It is truly unbelievable that 3rd would be over 200 points
behind the winner and that 1st and 2nd would have so many
points. In all we won
24 Gold Medals 20 Silver Medals 17 Bronze Medals
Our leading Medalists were Terri Sullivan with 8 Gold,
followed by Tiarne with 6, Anna 5 and
Gavin 4. WELL DONE TO THE MASTERS
TEAM – YOU CERTAINLY DID YOURSELVES
SHES RIDES TO CONQUER CANCER...
Hi guys
So, my journey
has begun! In
August, I'll be
participating in
a cycling event
called The Rio
Tinto Ride to
Conquer Cancer, which is in benefit of the Queensland
Institute of Medical Research (QIMR).
It is a 200km bike ride over 2 days throughout Qld’s scenic
countryside – a challenge with a simple goal: to raise as
much money as possible to help QIMR conquer cancer!
The QIMR is a worldwide leader in cancer research and
discovery. It is one of the largest research institutes in the
southern hemisphere. QIMR’s work is incredibly important –
1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their
lifetime! I find that statistic somewhat horrifying and that’s
why I’m taking on the challenge!
The catch is, in order to participate I need to raise a minimum
of $2,500. If you would like to support me in my fundraising
efforts, any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Please follow the link below to make a donation.
Thank you in advance for your generosity – every little bit
counts!
Congratulations BMD Northcliffe competitors. What an
awesome display of courage and talent to win 7 straight
group of athletes, coaches and support crew (i.e family).
As always in answer to critics, Northcliffe proves its
intensions, not with heated big talk or puffed up pride, but
