We Believe 44Our Graduation Day is an opportunity for familiesto celebrate the students’ academic success in auniquely English setting.The ceremony takes place in the historic churchof Wimborne Minster, a beautiful gothic buildingthat’s over 1000 years’ old. The Minster has beena place of learning since 705 and Henry VII’s queenfounded a school here in 1497. The organ playedduring the ceremony is almost 400 years old.We believe in celebrating successThe presentations are made by the Chairmanof the <strong>University</strong>, accompanied by the countyHigh Sheriff, a representative of the Queen orthe Lord Lieutenant of Dorset. Mayors from fiveneighbouring towns will be there too.The celebrations continue back at the <strong>University</strong>where studios form a graduate showcase offinal year work. It is thereforevery important that you put togethera portfolio of your artwork as we cannotaccept students on qualifications alone(with a small number of exceptions).InterviewInterviews are an opportunity for you todemonstrate your self-motivation andcommitment to a chosen area of study,to discuss aspects of the course andto ask any questions that you may have.If you are selected for interview you willbe notified via ‘My Application’ with detailsof your interview. Interviews normally takeplace between late December and May.For most courses, you will be required to bringa portfolio of work as part of your interviewand you will be sent a specific portfolioguidance sheet with your invitation tointerview via ‘My Application’.As a general guide, portfolios should containexamples of work (both finished and workin progress) that showcase your particularskills and interests.
