It uses a host of the latesttechnology to ensure minimal impact <strong>on</strong> the envir<strong>on</strong>mentand is the first locally-installed C<strong>on</strong>tiFillsystem which uses c<strong>on</strong>tinuously regenerated sandfiltrati<strong>on</strong> as opposed to the classic sand filtrati<strong>on</strong>method which requires periodic backwashing andresults in downtime.The new system was supplied and installed byVeolia Water Soluti<strong>on</strong>s and Technologies. Initially15% of the recycled water will be re-used. This willincrease to 40% in line <str<strong>on</strong>g>with</str<strong>on</strong>g> planned upgrades. Theprevious treatment system allowed a maximum of7% of the water to be re-used. ■350-milli<strong>on</strong> FordsFord recently celebrated the producti<strong>on</strong> of its350-milli<strong>on</strong>th vehicle in the 109 years since itsfounding. The landmark vehicle was a Focus madeat a new plant in Thailand. This achievementequates to Ford building a vehicle every 10 sec<strong>on</strong>dsduring the 109 years. Parking these vehicles nose totail would extend from the earth to the mo<strong>on</strong> andback – twice! ■Toyota rebuts Ford claimToyota has rebutted Ford’s claim, made at the timeit produced its 350-milli<strong>on</strong>th vehicle, that the FordFocus had been the best-selling car in the worldin the first half of 2012. Ford says it sold 489 616Focus cars in the six-m<strong>on</strong>th period, <strong>co</strong>mpared to402 187 Toyota Corollas.Toyota says the Corolla figure should in fact be603 840 units as it should include Corolla derivativessold under other names, such as Auris, Matrixand Verso.
