The Mumbai-based BBC (<strong>Bay</strong> <strong>Beat</strong> <strong>Collective</strong>) formed in response to the abundance of standard-issue<br />
electronica so commonly heard in clubs and bars across the country. A DJ collective currently<br />
consisting of Kris Correya (longtime resident DJ of Zenzi, Mumbai's most reputed club for<br />
experimental / underground music), Sohail Arora (DnB promoter & founder - KRUNK, the alternative<br />
<strong>book</strong>ing agency) & Raffael Kably (Sound Engineer), the BBC's passion lies in drum & bass, breaks,<br />
dubstep, glitch, funk and minimal sounds. Visual Jockey Dooj adds another dimension to their sound<br />
with his innovation within visuals.<br />
BBC explores new aural territory, dabbling in styles ranging from breaks to drum n bass glitch hop to<br />
dubstep, dark to funky and tech, with a partiality to "phat" basslines and high voltage grooves that are<br />
infectious, delicious & supremely funky.<br />
They've injected fun into a scene, which was mutating into an increasingly austere and po-faced arena.<br />
Their DJ sets continually re-affirm the potency of dancing the night away in a sweaty club, surrounded<br />
by like-minded complete strangers.<br />
Previous Gigs include Sunburn Festival 2009 & 2010 & Giant Opening Sets for The Prodigy &<br />
Pendulum @ Invasion Festival, Jan 2011. BBC have also toured & played alongside some of the biggest<br />
Electronic Producers / DJ’s like Asian Dub Foundation (U.K), Godfather of Drum N Bass LTJ<br />
Bukem / MC Conrad (U.K), DUB FX (Australia), Klute (U.K), London Elektricity (U.K) & DJ Marky<br />
(Brazil). In addition to this, BBC’s first tour of Europe in August 2010 have put them on the World<br />
Map.<br />
A prime time BBC show is a combination of high end and accessible musical generators like time<br />
coded vinyls, ableton synced laptops, midi controllers, projectors and even I-Phones.<br />
The BBC are changing trends and inspiring newer players in India with regular packed alternative beat<br />
nights all over the country and are truly one of the emerging collectives of a much required alternative,<br />
intellectual order.<br />
