Whilst a freshman stallion might be exciting and marketable, to stand at Bombora Downs it would have
to be a horse that I truly believe in and affordable. Those horses are rare. The 3 horses we have Desert King,
Golden Snake and Lago Delight are amongst the best value for money proven stallions standing.
Most new horses never live up to the hype, If you want to breed a racehorse I recommend you go to the
best proven Stallion you can afford.
As I mentioned I consider our stallions to represent excellent value, however in the current competitive
climate we will do considerably better on all our stallions’ service fees.

The stud season at Bombora Downs is always a busy and exciting time of
the year with mares coming and going vet work 3 days a week a 100 plus
foals delivered and of course the putting in place of next year’s foal crop.
The rest of the year use to be known as the off season but with the ever
growing need for the other services Bombora offers means we stay busy.
Sale preparation, branding, dna and microchipping, education and weaning
of foals and breaking in of older horses keeps us pretty occupied.
The handling and growing out of young horses is enormously satisfying
and is a role we are playing for more and more local breeders.
Whatever your requirements we are happy to tailor a program to suite.
Apart from being a beautiful part of the world the Mornington Peninsula
has some of Australia’s most fertile soil a mild climate and reliable rains.
Following BIO dynamic farming principles, building soil carbon and biology
levels with no synthetic fertilizers used. Capitalizing on the natural strengths
of the region pastures on Bombora Downs are enormously productive and
are a highly beneficial component of our horses’ diets.
