Although the majority of income for the <strong>College</strong> comes through State and AustralianGovernment Grants and Fees there is still an important role for fundraising in providing specificitems for the <strong>College</strong>. Campus specific groups such as Parents and Friends Association and itssubcommittees, the Student Representative Council and the Interact Club may fundraise atdifferent times for different purposes. Efforts by these groups are to be permitted and supportedwithin this policy. Apart from raising valuable funds for the <strong>College</strong> fundraising helps create asense of community.Who must comply with the policy?This policy applies to: All employees Volunteers Students Parents and caregivers


<strong>Fundraising</strong> <strong>Policy</strong><strong>Policy</strong> StatementAll fundraising will be conducted under the delegated authority of the Head of <strong>College</strong>. Decisionsmade about fundraising will be discussed at appropriate venues, (eg P&F, PASA meetings, staffmeetings etc) where the broader issues can be canvassed and policy implications can beassessed. Issues and questions that arise are to be revered to the Head of <strong>College</strong>, who, in turnmay refer them to <strong>College</strong> Council.<strong>Concordia</strong> Lutheran <strong>College</strong> will accept corporate sponsorship in accordance with guidelinesreferred to in the Donations and Sponsorship <strong>Policy</strong>, however, individuals will not directly benefitfrom any fundraising either as a result of the individual’s efforts in fundraising or as a beneficiary.Section 2 – ParametersIn order to maintain the ethos and integrity of the <strong>College</strong>, fundraising should meet the followingparameters:Nature of <strong>Fundraising</strong> ActivitiesAny fundraising activity must be in harmony with the values explicit in the <strong>College</strong> PhilosophyStatement. Such activities will show regard for the personal well-being of all <strong>College</strong> personnel,and enhance positive public relations and public profile of the <strong>College</strong>.Above all, it is to be remembered that the appropriate form of fundraising within Christianorganisations is giving. This giving comes from the heart, inspired by the heart of the giver, andblessed by God.Gambling as <strong>Fundraising</strong><strong>Concordia</strong> Lutheran <strong>College</strong> acknowledges that gambling is a contentious issue amongst theChristian Community and the <strong>College</strong> does not preside to judge gambling as sinful nor promote it.The <strong>College</strong> will abstain from gambling activities that promote people engaging in the betting orstaking of something of great value, being conscious of the risk of loss and the hope of gain but willallow the parents and Friends Association to conduct small raffles with prizes limited in value andcontent appropriate to the ethos of a Lutheran school. Tickets will only be sold by adults to adults.This allowance is made with the view that purchasers of these raffle tickets use this as merely anopportunity to make a donation to the <strong>College</strong>.The <strong>College</strong> will apply for and accept funds from the Community Benefit Fund and the like, asthese are a tax on gambling not the proceeds of gambling activities and use the money to helpprovide a high quality Christian education and facilities to the children and families of the DarlingDowns.BeneficiariesAny fundraising activity should benefit the <strong>College</strong> community as a whole, or recognised charities.These activities are not to service individuals or groups within the <strong>College</strong>. Exceptions to this mustbe granted by the Head of <strong>College</strong>.Off campus fundraising may be approved to assist individuals or groups following correctprocedure under <strong>College</strong> parameters.LeadershipAll fundraising will be supervised, directly or indirectly, by <strong>College</strong> staff members. These staffmembers, directly or indirectly, will be responsible for overseeing the nature, approval timing,collection of money and payment authorization for all activities.


Timing<strong>Fundraising</strong> <strong>Policy</strong>The Head of <strong>College</strong> at the relevant campus will be responsible for the approval of the timing ofany fundraising activity. Projects or tours, dependent on fundraising, should not be commenceduntil all required funds are in hand.Financial AccountabilityFunds raised by the <strong>Fundraising</strong> Committee will be managed by the <strong>Fundraising</strong> Committeetreasurer. All other funds will be managed by the Business Manager. All receipts anddisbursements will be generated under the direction of the Business Manager.
