So whether this is your first time experiencing thismagical blockbuster or a return to the Wizard’s kingdom, we warmlywelcome you to the Orpheum Theatre. Wicked is based on GregoryMaguire’s best-selling 1995 novel about the untold story of the witchesof Oz, and since its Broadway debut has garnered 35 major awards andbroken Minneapolis box office records in 2006 and 2008.Each season, the Trust delivers the hottest Broadway shows to TwinCities’ audiences. This year is no exception with an eclectic, first-rateslate of Broadway shows scheduled from now into next July. Octoberheralds the Minnesota debut of Rock of Ages, a rockin’ love story set to classic 80s’ hits by supergroups such as Styx and Journey. In December, we’re bringing the not-to-be-missed Billy Elliot,about a blue collar boy who secretly loves to dance. We engageaudiences of all ages with initiatives that lend insight to the shows and deepen the understandingof theatre craft. Through our SpotLight Musical Theatre Program and Critical View studentreviewer program we inspire hundreds of high school students to learn more about theperforming arts while they refine their skills. The Trust also opens its doors wider with our Kids’Nights, which offer an affordable way for adults to introduce young people to family friendlyBroadway shows.
