POSITION TITLE: <strong>Recruiter</strong>POSITION #:POSITION STATUS: ExemptREPORTS TO: Vice President of Student AffairsSUPERVISES: Not ApplicableFLSA STATUS: ExemptPOSITION SUMMARY:<strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>College</strong> is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of<strong>Recruiter</strong>. This position is primarily a recruitment/public relations position for the college. The mainresponsibility of this position is to assist in the recruitment of new students in an effort to increase college fulltimeequivalent (FTE) enrollment. This is done through effective promotion of <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s(TSJC) programs, facilities and the overall TSJC college experience to prospective students. This position isrequired to assist perspective students in all aspects of the admissions process and resume a detailedrecruitment program and follow-up for a designated territory, which covers a significant portion of Colorado.Extensive travel is required.This job description reflects TSJC’s best effort to describe the duties and qualifications of the job described. It isnot an exhaustive statement of all the duties, responsibilities, or qualifications of the job.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provide recruitment activities that will result in the recruitment of a diverse population of students forthe TSJC Arts & Sciences and Career and Technical Education programs.• Serve as the primary liaison between TSJC and potential students, high school personnel and localcommunity. Works to create and support positive working relationships with all college partners.• Serves as primary point of contact for institutional scholarships.• Serve as the lead recruiter for TSJC at recruiting activities and for specific programs. Serves as theinstitutional lead for TSJC recruiting and outreach with area high schools. Visits every school in theservice area at least once per semester.• Actively represents TSJC in Colorado and New Mexico day/night fair and/or similar recruitingactivities.• Provide information on TSJC admissions requirements, academic programs, athletic programs,financial aid, housing, student activities, demographics, etc. to prospective students.• Actively manages a database of prospective TSJC students and performs systematic follow-upfollowing recruiting events. Responds to requests for information and questions about TSJC’sprograms and services.• Provide campus tours, hosts events for prospective students and actively participate in on campusevents. Meet and give tours to visiting prospective students and parents, including walk-ins.• Cross train to provide assistance in the Student Services office for admissions, student ID’s, formsand advising support to prospective students.• Update and implement TSJC Recruiting Plan.• Organize and coordinate recruitment and retention efforts with the Director of EnrollmentManagement and Vice President of Student Affairs and the Valley Campus <strong>Recruiter</strong>.• Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify enrollment management issues and develops aplan to address the issues.• Recommend strategies and procedures to improve recruitment.• Develop and conducts periodic needs assessments to identify areas to improve recruitment.• Develop/update departmental brochures and informational fliers related to TSJC programs with theassistance from the Marketing Committee including but not limited to the viewbook, scholarshipmaterials and direct student follow information.• Coordinate and update TSJC website with information related to new students, housing, campus life,campus activities, and program information as needed.• Coordinate and prepare media releases in collaboration with the Marketing Department• Develop and maintains the assigned budget.


• Serve on college or community committees as assigned or elected.• Represent the <strong>College</strong> as requested.• Travel in-state or out-of-state as required to participate in college fairs, high school visits, financial aidnights and related recruitment events.• Perform other student services related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degreeAt least two years professional recruiting experience in higher education.Demonstrated ability to produce a high yield in recruiting college level students.Experience working with diverse populations, college faculty, community agencies and secondary schools.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Professional recruiting experience in higher educationMaster’s degree in Marketing, mass communications, or human relations and previous higher education.Five or more year’s experience in student recruitment activities, public speaking and presentation experience.Demonstrated ability to produce a high yield in college recruiting.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The successful candidate must submit to and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment backgroundcheck as a condition of hire.SALARY:Annual salary is based on a full-time, 12-month appointment and successful candidate’s experience,qualifications, and education.
