The New Force in Hydraulic ProtectionSuperior Flexibility, Reliability, DurabilityPureForce Provides Superior ProtectionAs the sophistication of hydraulic systems andcomponents has increased, so has the importanceof system maintenance. The easiest and most costeffective way to lower maintenance expense andhelp insure trouble-free system operation isthrough proper filtration. To improve safety and efficiency, equipmentdesigners are using hydraulics to replace belts, chains, cables and other methods of transferringpower. Most new hydraulic equipment isdesigned to be easier to operate and maintain. This often requires closer tolerances, faster cycletimes, higher pressures, extended serviceintervals and more complex systems - all placingmore demands on the filtration system. With these demands on today’s hydraulicsystems, maintaining system cleanliness throughproper filtration is essential to insure maximumefficiency and reliability. To improve system cleanliness, Baldwin Filtersintroduces its PureForce hydraulic filter productline, a new alternative for medium-pressurehydraulic assemblies.Baldwin’s PureForce product line brings manyadvantages, including the ability to consistentlyoutperform the leading competitor. BaldwinPureForce filters, bases and self-housedindicators all work together to protect hydraulicsystems. The PureForce product line allows users tocustomize filtration systems to meet their needsby using a combination of bases, indicators and aselection of quality Baldwin hydraulic filters.HighestBurst- and Fatigue-Rated FiltersBaldwin’s PureForce filters are engineered to withstand extremeconditions created by medium-pressure hydraulic systems, withworking pressure up to 500 psi and flow rates up to 50 gpm.Advantages of the PureForce structural design include the following:n Highest Possible Structural Integrity. Baldwin’sPureForce hydraulic filters feature a die cast aluminumbaseplate locked in place by a patent pending L-Lock TMhem – eliminating leaks due to the integrity of thehousing seal.n Superior Burst Pressure. Lab and field testing showthat PureForce filters have the highest level of burstand fatigue characteristics – with PureForce exceedingthe leading competitor’s published burst pressurespecifications by an average of 65%.n Greater Consistency. PureForce filters test at higheraverage levels on a more consistent basis – providing themost reliable medium-pressure hydraulic spin-on. Thisgreatly reduces the possibility of unexpected downtimedue to a failed filter.Custom design to meetspecific hydraulicsystem needs.StrongerBase ConstructionPureForce 4" and 5" diameter hydraulic filter bases feature superiorconstruction and strength. To improve durability and enhance systemperformance, Baldwin designed a two-piece base. The PureForcebases feature die cast aluminum construction with a integral threadedsteel stud. The two-piece design offers several advantages overcompetitive offerings.n Improved Strength. The threaded steel stud is strongerthan aluminum studs used by the leading competitor –eliminating any damage caused by cross-threading andextending the life expectancy of the filter base.n Increased Durability. PureForce bases reduce thepossibility of galling, which is caused by similar metalsfusing together. The PureForce threaded steel stud willnot fuse to aluminum filter baseplates in the same waythat competitive bases with aluminum threads can.n Enhanced System Performance. The threaded steelstud allows for a 40% increase of the flow area overbases with aluminum studs that require heavier, thickerside walls. The increased flow area results in a lowerpressure drop and extended service time.n By-Pass Options. PureForce bases are available with orwithout 25 and 50 psi integral by-pass valves, which helpprevent excessive pressure drops during cold starts.n By-Pass Valve Integrity. The by-pass valves in Baldwin’sPureForce bases perform better than competitor offerings. In head-to-head tests, competitor by-pass valves openedprior to the set point allowing unfiltered oil to reach thesystem. Baldwin’s by-pass valves consistently opened atthe set point, providing more uniform protection.n Indicator Placement Options. PureForce bases have theunique capability to accommodate indicators on eitherside to facilitate mounting versatility. The indicator portscan be used for either visual or electrical indicators.MultipleIndicator SelectionsIndicators are essential to maximizing the life of a replaceablehydraulic filter. Baldwin offers a visual indicator and three types ofelectrical indicators.Visual IndicatorsThe PureForce visual indicator is self-housed and features a pop-outbutton, which is triggered via magnetic force. Once triggered, thePureForce indicator stays activated even when the hydraulic system isshut down.Electrical IndicatorsBaldwin’s electrical indicators are available in three styles —single-post, 2-wire and 3-wire. The PureForce electrical indicators arealso self-housed units that do not rely on base geometry for properactivation.n Single-Post Indicator. Designed for mobile applicationswith DC voltage, the single-post indicator is compact indesign and can be used when the filter base is grounded.Unlike the other PureForce indicators, the single-postindicator does not utilize magnetic force to activate theswitch. Instead, the single-post design utilizes pistontravel to ground the post to the switch housing.n 2-Wire Indicator. Also intended for DC voltageapplications, the 2-wire indicator can be used inapplications where the housing is not grounded. The2-wire indicator utilizes a magnet which interacts with areed switch through the walls of the indicator housing toprovide clean on/off switching.n 3-Wire Indicator. For use in AC or DC voltageapplications, the 3-wire electrical indicator is the idealchoice where 3-wire logic is being used. This versatileindicator is micro-switch activated and is rated at 2 amps.A threaded female conduit connection allows for the useof conduit to protect the wires.Taking Hydraulic System Reliability To A Higher LevelAssembled ComponentsTwo-Piece Base DesignVisual and Electrical IndicatorsMedium-Pressure Filters
