MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGSTX BATTERY SAVERThe VX-6E also includes a useful Transmit Battery Saver, which will automatically lowerthe power output level when the last signal received was very strong. For example, whenyou are in the immediate vicinity of a repeater station, there generally is no reason to usethe High Power output selection in order to achieve full-quieting access to the repeater.With the Transmit Battery Saver, the automatic selection of Low Power operation conservesbattery drain significantly.To activate the Transmit Battery Saver:1. Press the [F/W] key, then press the [0(SET)] key to enter the Set mode.2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 70: TXSAVE.3. Press the [0(SET)] key momentarily to enable adjustment ofthis Set Mode Item.4. Rotate the DIAL knob to set this Set Mode Item to “ONON” (thusactivating the Transmit Battery Saver).5. When you have made your selection, press the PTT switch tosave the new setting and exit to normal operation.ATT (FRONT END ATTENUATOR)The attenuator will reduce all signals (and noise) by 10 dB, and it may be used to makereception more pleasant under extremely crowded conditions.1. Press the [F/W] key, then press the [0(SET)] key to enter the Set mode.2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 5: ATT.3. Press the [0(SET)] key momentarily to enable adjustment ofthis Set Mode Item.4. Rotate the DIAL knob to set this Set Mode Item to “ONON” (thusactivating the attenuator).5. When you have made your selection, press the PTT switch tosave the new setting and exit to normal operation.6. If you wish to disable the attenuator, just repeat the above procedure, rotating theDIAL knob to select “OFFOFF” in step “4” above.When the attenuator is activated, the Operating Mode icon (AM, FM, orWFM) will blink on the display.VX-6E <strong>OPERATING</strong> <strong>MANUAL</strong> 79
