DECADE REUNIONS 201230 YEAR REUNIONOn 27th October 2012, 47 girls from the year 12 classof 1982 (or equivalent) had dinner at the Robin Hoodhotel in Norwood for our 30 year reunion. Many camefrom interstate and the prize for distance went to JulieHannaford who travelled from Hong Kong! Most of usmanaged to recognise most of us despite the ravagesof age. The evening was organised with swaps to tablesand activities to help us re-connect with a varietyof old school friends. At one part of the night we sat inhouse groups and had an energetic "chant off", soundsof which may have sounded a bit strange to other patronsof the Robin Hood. Other combinations putboarders together, those who started in primaryschool, year 8 class groups etc. A "who am I?" basedon facts about what people had been doing, togetherwith "now" photos, and a slideshow of collectedphotos from school days compiled by Robyn Young (Jones) had us guessing and laughing. Many memories were sharedand current connections found in a very enjoyable night. A small group met for brunch the next day to extend theexperience. We are hoping to meet more regularly on the last Saturday in October each year for a drink at the RobinHood. Anyone from our year who has not received e-mails can get on to the distribution list by e-mailing Heather(hbean@adam.com.au). Thanks to the rest of the organising group for your work and fun at essential planning dinners!Heather Bean (’82)40 YEAR REUNION40 Year Reunion (1972 Peer Year)Sunday at midday the class of 1968 and of course the girls who started earlier in reception and primary school, met atthe Kings Head to celebrate our 40 years of having a connection with one another through our school days. Therewere around 23 of us with about 12 formal apologies. It was a great venue with a lovely dining room all to ourselves. As usual the noise level was high, but with muchlaughter and catching up on years gone by and reminding each other of the memories we have of individuals in themaroon school uniform. We had the odd photographs and the school magazines, not to mention a school hat or two, just to jolt the old memory bank.It was fantastic that people came from interstate and travelled from country areas to acknowledge and appreciatethe friendships and connections we have . Here are just some emails received that I think sums up events such as this.“It was lovely to see so many familiar faces at the reunion and catch up with what everyone has been doing. I was veryglad to come home from Sydney and see everyone - hope it won't be another 20 years before I return!!!” Denise Lithgow“I really enjoyed catching up with you at the re-union lunch recently: it rolls away a few years doesn’t it?” AnneWhitehouse“Say hello to the girls and pass on my best wishes. I reflect on the time at MLC as a wonderful time in my life - we allseemed to have a good experience at school, with the contacts, friendships and acceptance we had of each other. Itreally was an uncomplicated time wasn't it. We were all very fortunate to have been at school in the 60/70's - life wasso simple, honest and stress-free”Jan HancockOur list of old scholars from our year goes through a thorough check each time we have these reunions and our contactis reunions and our contact is growing each time. Each year I send out an open invitation to those I have email addresses for, to have lunch and keep connected witheach other. It certainly makes the major reunions a whole lot less scary. One actual remembers people’s names a lotbetter. This year it is on Sunday Oct 20 th and the Kings Head Hotel.
