It willreceive our basic regrind service to the price listedin the current Price Supplement. After grinding, thetool will be slightly shorter than its original length,but will be functionally the same as new. When sidecutting tools, such as Midget Mills ® , router bits,milling cutters and saws, are reground, their workingdiameters are necessarily reduced.RecuttingThis Chatterless-Countersink , identical when newto the one above, has been chipped rather badly. It issalvageable by grinding the teeth down to a pointbelow the chips, then backing off the edges. As theamount of material that must be removed becomeslarger, each tooth becomes thicker and the centraldiameter becomes larger. At some point, the fluteswill have to be recut to preserve the working rangeof the tool. Recutting the flutes adds to the cost ofreconditioning the tool. This expense can’t bestandardized, but it will be quoted on request.ReconditioningThe Chatterless-Countersink pictured here hasexperienced a real disaster. The damage extends sodeeply into the carbide that there’s not enoughmaterial left to reflute and regrind. This tool willrequire extra work and will be priced accordingly.We will provide a quotation before any work isdone if requested to do so by the customer. Toolsthat are beyond repair will be returned at no charge,with no work done.Some regrind customers request that a quotation beprovided before work is begun on their orders. Thiscan be done by telephone, fax, or correspondence,per your request. Most customers who have workedwith Severance on a regular basis simply leave theregrind / recut / recondition decisions to us, knowingthat they will get the best possible service at themost reasonable price.90
