presentation highlighted on the importance ofcommunicating during the mentorship process. Aswe all know, communication is a two way process,so it is vital for parties, the mentor and the menteeto communicate.Sister Jewell K Williams was the next speaker andshe empowered the women on FinancialStewardship. She was from Faith life financial.http://www.faithlifefinancial.ca/en/She talked about the need to understand that in lifewe have to plan how we use our finances. We haveto be ready for the unknown circumstances likedeath, accidents and natural disasters hence the needto have insurance so that in the event that somethingbefalls us, we will be prepared. The president’sreport and the local churches’ reports followed. Thiswas followed by a luncheon for a cause. Allproceeds from the lunch will be going to HiatusHouse. http://www.hiatushouse.com/The luncheon was graced the awesome word whichwas presented by Rev Jo-Anne Shreve. After lunch we had an awesome presentation fromSister Ingrid from the Voice of the Martyrs. “TheVoice of the Martyrs Canada stands alongsidepersecuted brothers and sisters worldwide. We helpChristians who are, or have been, persecuted fortheir involvement in spreading the gospel; we loveand support believers who are willing to invite theirfellow men, even their persecutors, to Jesus Christ;and we encourage persecuted Christians by givingtheir testimony a voice, informing Christians inCanada to know how to help. Join us in raisingawareness of and reaching out to the persecutedChurch!” http://www.persecution.net/The day was concluded by some serenity tea. Thewomen enjoyed tea as the day was being wrappedup by some beautiful poetry, drama, dance andsong. All the women who presented were invited tocome to the Women's Global Initiative in Chicago,June 27-30 by Rev Cecilia Bryant. This was a day that the Lord had made and weall chose to rejoice and be glad in it.2012-2013 Canadian Conference WMS Executive2nd Vice : Pamela Anderson- Bethlehem WindsorRecording Secretary: Bev Hendrickson- GrantTorontoCorrespondence Secretary:Lenore Ralph-Robinson MontrealTreasurer: Linda Frater- Grant TorontoYPD Director: Glena James- Grant TorontoPME Director : Cecilia Lucas- Robinson MontrealWorship Director : Kelly Wilson- BethlehemWindsorLindiwe Sithole, PresidentCanadian Conference WMSI began my mandate as 27th Governor General andCommander-in-Chief of Canada with a conventionalhairstyle: straightened hair. Then, while in Office, Ichose to return my hair to its natural state, fully awarethat my gesture would be imbued with a powerfulsignificance. And how wonderful it was to conductdiplomatic missions—State visits—to Europe, China,Latin America, Africa, fully assuming my blackness!Black women drew inspiration from my choice andfound the strength to overcome the alienation caused byCaucasian standards of beauty. I do not bear any illjudgment towards those who prefer to straighten theirhair. Today Black women and men do as they desire, coiffing their hair in versatile hairstyles; but we mustcontinue to value the beauty of natural hair, curly, kinky, frizzy, textured, braided hairstyles, recognizing them astrue works of African art. We must show-off our hairwith ease, creativity, ingenuity, strength, joy andcourage and above all with conviction and freedom. Formy daughter and me, the choice is clear. Your initiativeis a pure delight and a real struggle! Congratulations!Michaëlle JeanPresident : Lindiwe Sithole- Tanner Price Windsor1st Vice: Teresa Halfkenny- Highland Nova Scotia
