Oprah Winfrey Adopts Springer SpanielsSunny & Lauren from PAWS ChicagoMeet Sadie’s SiblingsSoon after the adoption of her adorable Cocker Spaniel, Sadie, OprahWinfrey felt the familiar itch to expand her family just a little further.Having already adopted Sadie from PAWS Chicago, and dedicating the“Sophie’s Place” suite in honor of her beloved Sophie who passed awayin 2008, she knew just who to call. Oprah contacted PAWS Chicago’sfounder Paula Fasseas in July 2009 and expressed interest in keepingan eye out for any Springer Spaniels that were in need of a home.In January 2010, Fasseas received a call from the PAWS Chicago’sintake team that three Springer Spaniels had just been picked up fromChicago Animal Care and Control. Pictures of the beautiful black andwhite puppies were sent to Oprah who immediately fell in love.On the January 29 episode of “Oprah,” which also happened to beher birthday, 14-week-old siblings Sunny and Lauren were introducedto their new mom in front of a live audience by Fasseas and Dr. BarbaraRoyal, DVM. The third puppy, Trent, was also adopted by a friend on theshow.
