Content: This year, coverage of the social studies grade 7 curriculum will beorganized into the following categories:• Unit 1: Changing Your World• Unit 2: Economic Empowerment – Distribution of Wealth• Unit 3: Political Empowerment – Toward Confederation• Unit 4: Cultural Empowerment – Many Voices• Unit 5: Societal Empowerment – New Century, New Ideas• Unit 6: National Empowerment – A Stronger NationB. Evaluation/Assessment: Students will receive a variety of types ofevaluation/assessment throughout the school year in order to demonstrate studentlearning. Evaluation tools may include:• Tests – 40%• Quizzes – 15%• In class /take home assignments – 10%• Take home projects – 30%• Mini-assignments – 5%C. Expectation for Class Preparation/Behaviour:• Be prepared for class (pen, pencil, scribbler, book and any other requiredmaterials)• Homework complete• Respect for others• Maintain a positive attitude• Positive contribution to class discussion• Adherence to school rules• Effective use of class time• Submission of completed assignment/project on due dates• Student’s best effort is expected

These may include:• Phone calls• Written letters• Parent/teacher conferences• Report cards• Online and e-mail contactE.
