However, three of the team’s current starters played at least 24 minutes or more in each game a year ago including top returningrebounder Trent Wiedeman who was named to the preseason All-Southern Conference Team along with Antwaine Wiggins.COUGAR SOUND BITES“We are coming off a disappointing home loss, but again, I give George Mason a lot of credit. We played so well and were playing at home with a great crowd duringthe holidays. It was disappointing we didn’t play better. The good thing is, it was out of conference, and now, we go back into conference play. I can’t say enough goodthings about Wofford. They have been one of the best teams in the Southern Conference winning the tournament championship the last two years. (Wofford Head Coach)Mike Young does a fantastic job. They kind of dethroned Davidson (as the SoCon leader) and now Davidson is coming back. We would like to be in the mix. Winning thetournament two years in a row is a wonderful thing and everyone says, ‘they lost a lot of players?’ I don’t think Mike Young was sitting around and doing nothing for the lasttwo years. He knew he was losing those players and he went out and got some very good players. Thank God Noah Dahlman isn’t there. I’m sure they are saying the samething about Drew Goudelock. We have had great games with Wofford. They are tough to defend. We have to bounce back.” – CofC Head Coach Bobby Cremins on travelingto Wofford and trying to rebound from the George Mason loss“We are trying to compete for a conference championship in the SoCon. We have to be more serious and more focused and get better as a team. We have to be ready to playdefense in clutch situations and not let our opponent get easy baskets like we did against George Mason. We know it will be a tough road trip. Their fans will be really loud.We just have to stay focused and not let it affect us. I know they will be hyped to play us, but we are ready to play them, too, after they beat us in the championship gamelast year.” – CofC Senior Forward Antwaine Wiggins on restarting up conference play at Wofford“We have been working on our defensive rotations and have been competing hard in practice. We are excited for this road trip and to go there and play. We feel like we owethem, since they got us last year (in the SoCon championship game). They are a really good team this year, despite losing a lot of last year’s starters. They are coming off agreat win at Wake Forest and are 1-1 in conference. It’s going to be a tough game, but every game is a tough one in our conference. We just have to stay focused, work hardand play hard.” – CofC Junior Point Guard Andrew Lawrence on traveling to WoffordCOUGAR BASKETBALL WEEKLY SCHEDULE1 2 3 45 67Practice @11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Practice @4:00-6:00 p.m.Practice @4:00-6:00 p.m.Practice @WoffordGAME DAYat Wofford@ 8:00 p.m. (ET)Benjamin Johnson Arenaat Spartanburg, S.C.[MyTV/ESPN3]Practice @FurmanGAME DAYat Furman@ 2:30 p.m. (ET)Timmons Arenaat Greenville, S.C.[Comcast/CSS]
