AD 219 - F<strong>in</strong>al Project<strong>Personalized</strong> <strong>Look</strong>-<strong>Book</strong> <strong>formatted</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>InDesign</strong>Overview:You will be creat<strong>in</strong>g a personalized portfolio with your name, course number, semester, andimages of your work. Your work can <strong>in</strong>clude any artwork or design you have done <strong>in</strong> the past, aswell as any and all of the assignments and projects you have created <strong>in</strong> this class. You will createthis look-book us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>InDesign</strong> (ID). By complet<strong>in</strong>g this project you will be <strong>in</strong>troduced to ID andlearn to import a Photoshop or Illustrator graphic <strong>in</strong>to an ID document.Your design must conta<strong>in</strong> a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 4 pages (sides); th<strong>in</strong>k about the layout, type, and your imagesand how all of these elements work together.This is a portfolio of YOU, so you may chose to feature your art (pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs, glass, design, photography,etc.). If you want to, you may <strong>in</strong>clude all of your projects that were done beyond thetextbook exercises:1. Animal Illustration2. Animal Stamp Design3. Black-and-White Architectural Interior4. If They Mated5. Photo Collage6. UN Declaration of Human Rights SpreadProcess:1. Do a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 8 thumbnail sketches to generate layout ideas and possible styles2. Do a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 1 larger sketch to determ<strong>in</strong>e the scale of content3. Beg<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>InDesign</strong> by us<strong>in</strong>g the Template from the Quigley <strong>Server</strong> and create a Master Pagelayout4. Prepare and Size Images us<strong>in</strong>g Photoshop and Illustrator5. Complete your Layout <strong>in</strong> <strong>InDesign</strong> (Save often!)Grad<strong>in</strong>g:• Effort – the amount of time and consideration that is evident <strong>in</strong> your work.• Completion – how f<strong>in</strong>ished your work looks.• Composition – how well your layout is composed accord<strong>in</strong>g to art and design pr<strong>in</strong>ciples.• Creativity – how well the layout communicates the theme of your book• Tools – how well the files are organized and embedded <strong>in</strong> <strong>InDesign</strong> (quality of images too)• Visual Communication – how effectively your layout communicates the appropriate <strong>in</strong>formation


<strong>Personalized</strong> <strong>Look</strong>-<strong>Book</strong>M<strong>in</strong>imum Requirements:1. 8 thumbnail sketches of layouts and ideas for possible themes2. 1 pencil sketch (rendered <strong>in</strong> details <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g text, color choices, fonts, tonal variations)3. Cohesive theme runn<strong>in</strong>g through the document4. On the cover <strong>in</strong>clude your name, course number, and the semester5. M<strong>in</strong>imum of 5 images of your work6. Each image should have a column of text near it to give the viewer <strong>in</strong>formation on the image(title, description of media, year it was completed, etc...). You may choose to write about theprocess to create more of a narrative to go with the images.7. All images, fonts, and graphics must be embedded <strong>in</strong> the f<strong>in</strong>al document (miss<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>ked fileswon’t show up if they’re not packaged with the document)Process for Submitt<strong>in</strong>g:1. Make sure all layouts are spell-checked2. Embed all fonts and images3. Submit your completed file named yourname_f<strong>in</strong>al.<strong>in</strong>dd to the Drop Box4. Upload your Proof to the MagCloud publish<strong>in</strong>g site and order a proof to pr<strong>in</strong>t5. Either pr<strong>in</strong>t your MagCloud Proof for F<strong>in</strong>al Critique -or- Br<strong>in</strong>g your published MagCloud magaz<strong>in</strong>eto class for F<strong>in</strong>al Critique
