The 5th Yokohama-Sotetsu CupThe World Women'sAmateur Go ChampionshipSato Akiko's second triumphThe 5th Yokohama-Sotetsu Cup: TheWorld Women's Amateur Go Championshipwas held at Shonan International VillageCenter from 29 September to 2 October withplayers from 24 countries and territoriesaround the world participating. Actually, 26players were scheduled to compete, but therepresentatives from Russia and the Ukrainewere unable to attend, so the tournamentfailed to top the record set in the 4th Cup in1992 of 25 players.As usual there was very fierce competitionamongst the Oriental players at the top,and the first five places were monopolizedby players who write their names with kanjior Chinese characters.
