Banasthali VidyapithThe origin of Banasthali is unique in more ways than one. Banasthali owes its existence neither to the zealof an educationist, nor to that of a social reformer. It is also not a creation of Philanthropist's purse. It hasarisen like the fabled phoenix from the ashes of a blossoming flower Shanta bai, which had witheredbefore its hour. It is a spontaneous filling up of the vacuum caused by Shantabai's death. Here love,eternal love, has been the fountain head of all the thinking and action and this spirit has been themotivating force.It was on October 6, 1935 that Smt. Ratan Shastri and Pandit Hiralal Shastri founded BanasthaliVidyapith to fill up the vacuum caused by the sudden death of their highly talented and promisingdaughter Shantabai. They had high expectations that she would work for women's cause when shewould grow up.Over these seventy years Banasthali has developed into a National Institute for Women's Education.Banasthali's educational programme aims at an all-round development of the student's personality. Toachieve its objective of 'synthesis of spiritual values and scientific achievements of the East and the West',it has evolved Five-fold Educational Programme (Panchmukhi Shiksha) comprising of the followingaspects : (i) Physical, (ii) Practical, (iii) Aesthetic, (iv) Moral and (v) Intellectual. This way the studentsdevelop an integrated and balanced personalityAdmission InformationAdmission to the Banasthali University is open to women only.Admission is open to all women irrespective of their race, religion, caste or color or domicile.A student admitted to the Banasthali University has to compulsorily join a hostel of the Universityunless the student is a ward of some worker of the University and stays with the worker in thecampus, or the student belongs to a neighboring village community within a radius of 25 kms.Every student seeking admission to the Banasthali University has to submit an application on theprescribed form and pay the requisite application fee by the prescribed date. Foreign / NRI AdmissionsA limited number of seats are available for Foreign/ NRI candidates. Admission against these seats are based directlyupon the merit and the applicants do not have to appear in the Aptitude Test. The eligibility for FOREIGN/ NRIcandidates is 40% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.(Except for B.Ed. where it is 45% , M.Ed. where itis 55%)The following documents are required for admission against FOREIGN/ NRI seats:(i) Original Certificates/ Marksheets of the qualifying examination.(ii) Attested photocopies of the Passport and Visa of the applicant/ guardian.(iii) Foreign Bank Account Number or NRI Account Number of the applicant/ guardian.(iv) Declaration regarding, Non-Resident Indian status of the applicant/ guardian.ReadmissionIf a student is separated from Banasthali or Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kutirand in the event Banasthali University decidesto readmit her, admission fee of Rs. 1,000/- - shall be payable. Academic, Campus And Hostel Rules Academic activity of the students will be strictly guided by the Academic rules anddecisions taken by Academic Bodies from time to time. Admission to Banasthali shall be open to women only. Admission of married students shall not be possible in other courses except to thepostgraduate courses. In post-graduate courses too, on very special circumstances only, the married students willbe provided admission. After being admitted to a courses, if a student get married before attaining the age of 18years, her admission shall be canceled from the Vidyapith. Admission will be open to all women irrespective of their race, religion, caste or colour ordomicile. Every student seeking admission to Banasthali shall submit an application on theprescribed form and pay the requisite fee by the prescribed date.
