As you read moreabout this auspicious occasion, 16 women willbe living in the new facility. These women willsoon learn, as thousands of other alumni have,that once they leave <strong>Glenbeigh</strong>, they will takewith them a strong fellowship of support.Being committed to our alumni is a top priorityand we provide opportunities for alumni tohave fun in a sober environment. There areseveral outstanding events planned for thespring and summer: an encore performance of<strong>Glenbeigh</strong>’s Night of Comedy, a Spring Banquetand the Alumni Picnic. In the Youngstown/Warren area, <strong>Glenbeigh</strong> sponsors an alcoholfree section at the Mahoning Valley Scrappersbaseball games.Besides programs for our alumni, <strong>Glenbeigh</strong> isproud of our on-going education and trainingseminars, “Rise & Shine,” for healthcareprofessionals. By sharing our staff’s vastknowledge and experience we help caregiversand employers assist individuals strugglingwith chemical dependency issues.In closing, it’s noteworthy to mention thatmore alumni are attending our events. Iwholeheartedly believe that the strength of ouralumni family is the backbone of our future. The facilityfeatures 6,900 square feetof living space including akitchen and dining area, agreat room, sleeping areasand counseling rooms. A <strong>Newsletter</strong> for <strong>Glenbeigh</strong> Family and Friends<strong>Glenbeigh</strong> Hosts Night of ComedyRocky River Event Sells OutMore than 325 attendees joined <strong>Glenbeigh</strong>, Rocky River, for a night of comedy at the DonUmberly Civic Center on Friday, November 12, 2010.Pat Weston-Hall began the evening with a welcome and introduction of Maxwell, host of “TheMaxwell Show” on WNCX 98.5 FM, who served as Master of Ceremonies. The comedy beganwhen Mark V. brought a young perspective to the show. Mark had the audience laughing withhis commentary on the 13th step and surprise interventions.The evening’s highlight was a performance by seasoned comedian and nationally recognizedspeaker Tim Grealish. Sober for 23 years, Tim connected with the audience by pulling fromhis own outrageous experiences before recovery and as an interventionist. Several membersof the audience were pulled into Tim’s hilarious world when they volunteered to join him onstage.Due to the overwhelming response to the Rocky River Comedy Night, <strong>Glenbeigh</strong> plans anencore presentation. Many of <strong>Glenbeigh</strong>’s counselors and staff members attended allowing them the opportunity to mingle, meetfamily and hear success stories including that of Tony M., the lead speaker.“This is a wonderful way to offer ouralumni a safe, sober activity wherethey can connect with other recoveringpeople in an environment that is festive,”said Gary Seech, <strong>Glenbeigh</strong>’s RegionalDirector of Operations.The evening included a Chinese auction,which featured assorted gift baskets andgift cards donated by local businesses,support groups and individuals. Threelucky guests went home with cash prizes.After dinner, alumni were invited toparticipate in the traditional candlelightcountdown. “It invites new people inrecovery to feel hopeful as they witnessthat the promises of the programdo come true as evidenced by theindividuals with years of recoverysurrounding them,” said Seech referring to the circle formed by participants.
