All personsdesignated on the registration form to pick up your child, will need to know this word. Itis the parent’s responsibility to give the code word to those individuals authorized to pickup their child from preschool.During carpool pickup, each parent will be asked their child’s “code word”. If you knowthat someone other than yourself will be picking your child up, we ask that you pleaseinform this person of the “code word” as well as the preschool staff in writing of thetransportation change. The Harris <strong>Preschool</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> reserves the right to denycustody to all persons who do not know the child’s code word and do not havephoto identification.If there is any change in who may pick-up your child, especially if someone who hasbeen regularly signing your child out is no longer allowed custody, please contact the<strong>Preschool</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> Coordinator at (704) 716-6851 immediately to change your “CodeWord” and to turn in copies of official court documents (required by the <strong>YMCA</strong>).Daily ApparelClothing for your preschooler should be simple, comfortable, washable and easy for yourchild to manage. Rubber soled shoes are a must (no sandals, flip flops, or slickbottom shoes please), especially for daily outdoor activities. Please send appropriateouterwear for the morning’s weather conditions. Make sure your child’s name is onsweaters, coats, hats, mittens, etc.Please be mindful that while at school we play and discover many new things andalthough out staff takes great care in preventing paint spills, messes, etc., we ask thatyou not dress your child in their best new clothes and expect them to remain spotless.If an accident occurs, your child will be dressed in the extra set of clothes you send toschool at the beginning of the year (the soiled clothing will be returned home to you onthat very day.) Please don’t forget to send an extra set of clothing back if thishappens!Things to Bring to School Each Day• A lunch box labeled with your child’s name. Please send a nutrious lunch thatis easy for your child to manage. We strive to teach healthy eating habits andappreciate your help from home. We ask that your child’s lunch contains the fourbasic food groups. Teachers will sit with the children during lunch time in order toprovide them a positive role model. You are welcome to join your child duringlunch. Please notify your child’s teacher of any lunch date. Here are some otherlunch reminders:o Do not send candy! Chewy and hard candy are choking hazards.10
