PROGRAM OVERVIEW
New Security management Systems
Regulation. Compliance. Standards.
Three words that have entered the
security professional’s lexicon. This
session explores the new wave of
government regulations, and the
evolution of national and international
standards in the world of security
and business continuity. It provides
an in-depth understanding of
management systems concepts, key
to almost all of the newly developed
standards. This session provides
a road map to determine what
regulations and standards effect your
organization and how a management
system can help you show
management control and continuous
improvement.
New Strategic Planning:
A CSO’s Roadmap to Success
Explore a ten-step process to create
the roadmap for a security service
function. Strategic planning involves
defining a purpose and vision,
establishing goals and objectives in
support of that mission, and creating
strategies to attain established
goals and objectives. Gathering
and analyzing data from inside and
outside of a service function—and
subsequently turning those data into
information—requires a structured
process and focus for an internal
service function. How you and
your team understand the voice of
your customer; your competition;
the business environment your
employer is working within; external
factors affecting your ability to meet
objectives; and the interdependencies
of each stage of the process will
all have implications for the future
direction and success of your
organization. The ten-step process and
its toolbox will enable you to create a
compelling plan to address both short
and long term company needs and
enterprise risk mitigation strategies.
New Leadership—Successful Senior
Communication Strategies
Your ability to communicate and
present critical strategies and
concepts to senior management
and board members can be one
of the most important skills you
master. Today’s security executives
who cannot quickly learn this skill
often find themselves marginalized
or outside their organizations’ circle
of decision-making. Influence—a
cornerstone of senior leadership—can
be defined as the ability to affect the
perceptions, attitudes, or behaviors
of others. Analyze this key element
as well as the core characteristics
of senior leadership. This highly
participatory session allows time to
practice communication strategies and
identifies the seven critical leadership
competencies
New Corporate metrics
Use metrics to overcome the frustration
of justifying dedicated resources for
your security programs. Lessons
learned and successful tools used by
a real corporation will be shared. Walk
away with proven methods to make a
case for security.
Leadership Skills 2010: Getting Things
Done Through and With People
Maximize one of your company’s
greatest resources—its people—by
learning how to be a more effective
motivator. Before you can motivate
others, however, you’ll need to
learn about yourself. Take the DISC
Inventory to better understand how
your communication style affects your
decision-making. Identify generational
issues in your workplace and learn
how they should effect your leadership
style. Define your motivational
leadership skills. Work in teams to
solve actual workplace concerns.
