Dr. Maureen Murphy, class of1972, was selected as the recipient for the 2012 <strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>Distinguished <strong>Alumni</strong> Award. Her husband, Larry Whitney, mother,Mrs. Eileen Murphy, and mother in law, Mrs. Edie Whitney were inattendance including friends, alumni, OA administrators, and Sistersof the Order of St. Francis. Maureen has spent her life committedto serving, leading, and most importantly for her, healing others.Currently, Dr. Murphy is the Director of Medical Affairs for St. ClareHospital in Baraboo, and a physician at The Lake Delton IntegrativeMedicine Clinic. She is Board Certified in family medicine andobstetrics. In addition, she is one of 73 people appointed to be an InnovationAdvisor for the Centers of Medicare/Medicaid Services. Dr.Murphy shares her dedication to and passion for healing others bysitting on and chairing numerous committees at the hospital, as wellas serving as a volunteer faculty member at the University of WisconsinDepartment of Family Medicine. Outside her community, Dr.Murphy truly puts her love for God and the Christian value of servingothers into practice with her missionary work having founded theHaiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin, which built a clinic and surgerycenter in Thiotte and sends more than 50 teams of medical volunteersto serve that community. In living the life she was called tolive, Dr. Murphy has set a beautiful example of sharing the Christianvalues she learned at OA.Save the Date<strong>2013</strong> Distinguished<strong>Alumni</strong> Award EventFriday, October 11, <strong>2013</strong><strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong><strong>Alumni</strong> Association Trustee,Linda Nobbe Siefert’61 proudly presentedthis year’s Virtue HonorEducation award to Sr.Constance Smith ‘40 at theconclusion of Homecomingmass held in the Sisters’Chapel. Her studentsremember her toughnessin making sure their work was done well but also appreciatedher sense of humor and patience. Studentsenjoyed Sister’s devotion, quick wit, encouragementand scientific mind that made her classes interesting. Sr.Constance took pride in all of her work, always wantingto be useful and serve the Lord in any way she could.Accepting on her behalf was Sr. Marjorie Neimier ‘69, amember of the General Council.
