Scrapbook ProjectPurpose: The Scrapbook project allows you to learn to safely preserve yourmemories in an organized and creative way. Memories may include:family, school, 4-H, etc.Levels: Level A – Grades 3 - 4Level B – Grades 5 - 6Level C – Grades 7 - 9Level D – Grades 10 - 12Requirements: All participants must be enrolled in the Elkhart County 4-H Program. Carefully read this Project Manual. If you have taken the 4-H Scrapbook project in previous years, do notinclude any pages you have submitted for judging in the past. Onlydisplay this year’s requirements. It is strongly recommended that you attend an introductory workshop.Workshops are available through scrapbooking retailers, but may have afee included.Guidelines for All Scrapbooks:1. Neatness is very important. Exhibit clean pages with clear handwriting.Your handwriting is part of your heritage. Please use it often! Computercreated writing is allowed but will not improve your score.2. Please spell words correctly and use a dictionary if necessary.3. Keep in mind the proper placement of photos, etc. in your album. Yourscrapbook is telling a story. Use chronology (putting things in order ofoccurrence) or seasonal activities to organize your scrapbook.4. Journaling is to be used along with your photos and memorabilia. Withoutjournaling, over time, your photos and memorabilia will become lessmeaningful to you and others.5. Using a variety of cropping techniques and page layouts will add interestand creativity to your album. Not everything has to be cropped or ‘artsy’.Use a nice balance, keeping in mind that the main focus is preservationand not how many stickers or fancy papers you can use on a page!6. The scrapbook album must demonstrate a good sense of the entireproject and what it means to preserve our memories.
