<strong>2011</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> ProgramIn <strong>2011</strong>, <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Worcester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> awarded$557,364 in scholarship aid to 372 students. Awards aremade through an annual, competitive selection process thattakes place from March through June. By completing oneapplication, a student may be considered for any scholarshipfor which they are eligible.<strong>Scholarship</strong> awards are mostly limited to residents of thecities and towns within <strong>Worcester</strong> County, MA, and aretypically for graduating high school seniors to attend collegefulltime.Each scholarship fund has special criteria established by ourdonors. The qualifications of each applicant are matchedaccordingly and eligible candidates are sent to volunteercommittees for selection of awardees.Over 148 individuals throughout <strong>Worcester</strong> Countyvolunteered their time and talents to serve on 56 separatescholarship committees. Volunteers reviewed applicationsand discussed them at a committee meeting or interviewedstudents in-person prior to selecting award recipients.All information is current as of July 26, <strong>2011</strong>.
