See Chapter 4: Organic and Sustainable forcomposting and mulching information.Weed control is an area where sponsors’ employees, parents, and others not directly involved inthe community garden can make a difference and become stakeholders. A weeding volunteer dayprovides an excellent way to keep the garden going. For children and adults, learning the differencebetween a weed and a favorable plant can be helpful with developing life-long learning skills andunderstanding about plants.Additionally, planting a combination of fast-growing plants along with the slower growing plantscan reduce the likelihood of weeds taking control.
