Charles H. Matteson<br />

Charles H. Matteson 88 of Palmyra, passed away March 3rd at The Heritage<br />

Inn of Charlottesville. He is survived by his son Mark, daughter Sally Dravis and<br />

granddaughter Victoria Dravis. He was a former employee of The Lake Monticello<br />

Golf Course and Assistant Manager at The Shenandoah Valley Airport. A<br />

private memorial service will be held at a later date. Any gifts in his memory can<br />

be made to Cunningham United Methodist Church or Lake Monticello Volunteer<br />

Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad Inc.<br />

Douglas Robert Johnson<br />

Former <strong>Fluvanna</strong> County School Board member<br />

Douglas Robert “Doug” Johnson, 69, of Palmyra, died<br />

Saturday afternoon, March 10 at Envoy at the Village<br />

in Fork Union, according to Thatcher Brothers Funeral<br />

Home’s website.<br />

Johnson, who was also a former chairman of the<br />

<strong>Fluvanna</strong> Republican Committee, was born on March<br />

<strong>12</strong>, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late<br />

Christopher Olaf and Lillian Beatrice (Roberts) Johnson.<br />

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by<br />

a sister, Doris Johnson.<br />

Mr. Johnson attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic<br />

Church in Palmyra as well as attending <strong>Fluvanna</strong> Baptist Church. He was an active<br />

member of the Lake Monticello Rotary Club. He was a Past P<strong>res</strong>ident of the Wharton,<br />

New Jersey Rotary Club. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.<br />

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Johnson of Palmyra; his daughters, Carrie Lynn<br />

Wigal and husband, Ty, Lisa Ann Johnson, and Faith Beth Stuart and husband, Dan,<br />

all of Palmyra; a brother, Donald Johnson and wife, Beverly of Roanoke; seven grandchildren,<br />

Tyler, Lauren, Michael, and Matthew Wigal and James, David, and Jessica<br />

Stuart; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.<br />
