Read Objectives. Ask students if they have any prior knowledge or simply remember any oftheose properties.2. (Whole Group) Teach the properties, using interactive notes and CCPS yellow vocab charts.With the charts, put some pictures up to help the students link the property names to thedefinitions.3. (Partners) Activity: Students will work with a partner to complete 9 different property puzzles.Eacher puzzle consists of three pieces: 1) property name, 2) property definition, and 3) exampleof that property. Once they find the three matching pieces, they will make a puzzle in the shapeof a rectangle. After they complete each puzzle, they will fill in their activity sheet. The worksheetasks for the three parts of the puzzle, plus the partners need to create their own example foreach property. Upon completion of the entire activity, the activity sheet should be glued into theirinteractive notebook.4. Debrief: Discuss the activity and the answers to the different property puzzles. Also, chart theadditional property examples the partners came up with on their own.5. (Whole Group) Assessment: Go back to the objectives, and by raising of hands determine thelevel of understanding the students have of the different properties.© 2008 Pearson Education, Inc.
