In humans, <strong>the</strong> cerebrum is involved in humany imp<strong>or</strong>tant lifeprocesses.Only 10 cranial nerves <strong>or</strong>iginate in <strong>the</strong> frog's brain. Human have 12. Similarly, <strong>the</strong> frog has only 10pairs <strong>of</strong> spinal nerves. Human have 30 pairs.Two simple holes make up <strong>the</strong> nostrils f<strong>or</strong> <strong>the</strong> frog. <strong>The</strong>re are complex valves but no long nasalpassages as <strong>the</strong>re are in human. <strong>The</strong> frog's sense <strong>of</strong> smell is registered by olfact<strong>or</strong>y lobes. <strong>The</strong>semake up <strong>the</strong> f<strong>or</strong>ward p<strong>or</strong>tion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> brain.<strong>The</strong> eye is crude. Its fixed lens cannot change its focus. Po<strong>or</strong>ly developed eyelids do not move. Toclose its eye, <strong>the</strong> frog draws <strong>the</strong> <strong>or</strong>gan into its socket. A third eyelid, <strong>or</strong> nictitating membrane, may bedrawn over <strong>the</strong> pulled-in eyeball.<strong>The</strong>re is no external ear. Both eardrums, <strong>or</strong> tympanic membranes, are exposed. <strong>The</strong>re is only onebone in <strong>the</strong> frog's middle ear. <strong>The</strong> human middle ear contains three bones (ossicles). As in humans,semicircular canals help to maintain <strong>body</strong> balance.
